I highly disagree w/your statement IcedOut, there may not be any 'radio quality' newschool Freestyle coming out from the US, but there sure as hell is coming from Canada and Germany. You should hear the tracks that get play time @ the clubs and then due to their popularity they get into regular rotation on our local radio stations. You should visit Toronto sometime, and you'll see the caliber of newschool out there... 😉
 
ya ok maybe but KTU is a New York based show..NYERS DONT LIKE CHANGE when it comes to freestyle.....at least not the ones i have encountered!😉
 
I understand, it'd just be nice for some of the old schoolers to at least give the new school a chance, too much closed mindedness has caused Freestyle to 'crap out' in the US. It's still going pretty strong in T dot... 😀

i also heard very veryvery few tracs that are "new" that I would even consider (paradigm to be one) but its realy not "closed mindedness at ll..just a matter of personal taste!🙂
 
Sales might be bad for a few labels, I don't really know, but Monaco's CDs sell well. More importantly though (IMHO), the clubs, especially Plastique and Palazzo (mainly DJ. Constantine) support freestyle like crazy. He plays a lot of new stuff @ the clubs, and the tracks become huge and then go on regular rotation on the radio. Record sales aren't everything for me, I know that we get to hear a lot of new stuff played on our Freestyle show, and there's regular play of Freestyle during the day too, so it's still going strong IMO. Plus, you shoulda seen people go nuts for Freida, Elissa, Rockell and Tamara at the Summer Rush this past month... we still love Freestyle here... 😀 I'll tell ya how it is after this weekend, hit Palazzo for my b-day, and I'm gonna get Constantine to play enough freestyle! 😉
 
SALES ARENT IMPORTANT TO YOU, BUT IF THESE LABELS DONT HAVE ENOUGH SALES THEY WILL DISCONTINUE PUTTING OUT FREESRTYLE. FANS HAVE TO TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION. WITHOUT SALES THERE ISNT TRUE SUPPORT FROM THE FANS. TONY MONACO'S LAST CD DIDNT SELL THAT WELL. I HOPE THE SALES PICK UP. ITS MORE IMPORTANT THAN U THINK. BUT I AM GLAD TO SEE THE CLUBS PUMPIN IT.
 
WELL I AM AN OLDSCHOLL FAN BUT I WANT TO HEAR THE NEW STUFF THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT NEW ARTIST OUT AND THEY DESERVE SOME AIR PLAY. OLD OR NEW ITS FREESTYLE AND THATS WHAT WE LOVE, THAT IS WHAT WE ARE FANS OF. SO I SAY A COMBO OF BOTH . WE GREW UP ON SOME OF THE BEST FREESTYLE THAT OLD SCHOOL THAT DOES IT TO YOU ALL THE TIME BUT I WANT TO KNOW WHATS OUT THERE AND GIVE THE NEW ARTIST A CHANCE AS WELL. SO HIT US WITH BOTH. I HOPE THAT HELPED 😀

i personally want to hear more old school, but not the typical stuff...the rare hard to find things!!!!
 
I say they do a pull on KTU's website, and not some Freestyle site, and we The Freestyle Site posters, don't touch that pull!! Just Real ktu listeners!!

I like them both! To be honest with you Willie. I have noticed, there are MANY freestyle old school songs that have not yet played on the radio. For example, I have many mix tapes. When my friends listen to them, their reaction is that of confusion. "Who sings this?", "When did this song come out?" Radio play the same songs. Even when new song's come out song by old school freestyle artist's, they kill it, by playing it over, and over again. I would love to hear KTU play Artistiks' stuff. Especially Syns' song's. Listen, I can go on about this. Bottom line is this. I will alway's say it. DJ's have the power to mix the old with the new. These two combinations can blend together and creat a whole new vibe!

Willie I know they're important, but sometimes they're not the only thing that counts. Monaco's CD did sell pretty well, according to the stats I read, I forget what the numbers were, but considering 'Freestyle is dead' the CD sales were big. Oh well, either way, to me, Freestyle is still going well here... artists like Elissa, Dimi, Maurizio, and Tamara are keeping Freestyle going here... 😀
 
I'll keep this simple

from 11-midnight: More quality new school and some rarer old school gems thrown in...I mean ugh how many times can they play "Show Me" before I throw up between 9 and 11...I feel bad for Judy trying to sound so excited that shes playing "Show Me" for the 8 millionth time that month....I know I know, thats what the "average" listener wants to hear....Well the average listener can have 9 to 11, give me something different for the last hour
 
new school......play it over and over and over, that way we get to love it as much as our old school.............i can play the old school anytime i want............i think its time for the new school to get a chance..........................😛 does anybody agree?
