It was on last week. Interesting countdown. As you know; Nirvana-Smells Like Teen Spirit was the #1 song of the past 25 Years, i'll post the full top 10 of the list.

eew it was a good song back in the day but #1 over 25 years...I don't think so ;/

Here's The Top 10

10. Madonna-Like a Virgin
9. The Police-Every Breath You Take
8. Whitney Houston-I will Always Love U
7. Prince-When Doves Cry
6. RUN DMC/Areosmith-Walk This Way
5. U2-One
4. Eminem-Lose Yourself
3. Guns N Roses-Sweet O Chile Of Mines
2. Michael Jackson-Billie Jean
1. Nirvana-Smells Like Teen Sprit

My problems; U2- Still haven't Found What I'm looking For should have been #5 instead of 1. Eminem-Lose Yourself like Norah Jones-Don't Know Why, is a little too recent.

not for anything but billie jean should have been number one...that marked a change in music and music videos at the time of its release

Plus that song is an all time classic loved by people who listen to many many many dif types of music

and of all songs 'lose yourself'??? :confused if anything 'hi my name is' was more of a song that caused a direction change in music

Billie Jean should been #1 & Eminem should not have been 4, at least not with that song.

VH1 is definitely smoking crack!

I agree...I was appalled that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" beat out "Billie Jean". Michael Jackson was such an innovative artist and the video for "Billie Jean" is a classic . Nirvana may have been the artists that brought grunge to the forefront in the early 90's, but in my opinion, they dont come close to deserving the top spot in such an important countdown. And hello, I cant even understand a word they said in that song!!! Somebody please give VH1 a clue!! lol

By the way, this friday night they will be doing another countdown..the 50 Greatest Teen Idols..should be cool!

VH1 has done numerous countdowns over the years they've done decade, and such and usually Nirvana ends up in the top 5, but not 1. Now, I am a huge Nirvana fan and all, but I don't know if I would say best out of the past 25 years.

Asfor not being able to understand the lyrics in the song, I don't think there that unaudible. I think there are other songs, especially ones out nowadays where you don't have the slightest clue as to what's being said.

all of nirvana's songs arre easy to understand except this one...and if u listen close u can make out wut he's saying

LOL

I disagreed with lots of songs on the list. I thought Guns and Roses-Welcome to The Jungle was a better song than Sweet O Child of mine. I think it was ranked high because Top40 stations like Z100 was playing Sweet O Child of Mine and only AOR stations like 92.3K-Rock was playing Welcome To The Jungle. RUN DMC was ranked good, Walk this Way is what introduced Surbrban White America to Hip Hop.

I just dont enjoy music where someone is screaming the lyrics. The only song I kinda liked from Nirava was "All Apologies".

i think 'smells like teen spirit' is the best nirvana song (well old ones anyways)... but it surely doesn't sit right on number 1!! i agree that 'billy jean' is number one song! for sure.. it's amazing, i mean for god's sakes it's STILL played in the clubs!!!! hmm well they're just opinions of a few 🙂

thanks for posting htis Mike, it's pretty interesting heehee
