Sorry to burst your bubble but it is not me that has my dates confused. Judy came on the scene in 86 and Sa-fire didn't hit the pop charts with "Boy, I've been told" until September of 1988.

If you need verification you can go to Mickey Garcia's site ( http://www.21stcenturyrecords.com/MickeysHighlights.html) and check out when he produce the Judy tracks for yourself.

And to the Freestyle wizard,

It did cost in the low 5 figures and I also remember those days of which you speak. I saw Judy for the 1st time at a V.I.P. record pool meeting at La Mirage in the Bronx. It was when she was on Jackie Jack records. Mickey had told me about her and we went up there to check her out. The outfits that you decribe are exactly what I remember seeing her wear.
 
Sir your dates are confused - "dont break my heart" came out in 1986 - "let me be the one" in 1987 and "boy ive been told" was her 3rd single in 1988 and that was her 1st big pop crossover hit.

I stand corrected as you are indeed right and I somehow totally forgot about those records. Don't ask me how but I did. Must be old age creeping in. That or I've been listening to too much trance music lately. 🙂

Sa-Fire's "DON'T BREAK MY HEART" was released in 1986 on Cutting Records. There is no year printed on the Jackie Jack Records release of "NO REASON TO CRY" by Judy Torres, it is quite possible that it was in 1986. Profile re-released the song in 1987...

Don't be in shock girley. TRUTH IS it's my opinion. GL left Freestyle for many years. He may have done a FS album in 1999, but I did not hear of it...I'm sorry. As far as I've been informed he is still doing SALSA.

Now, TKA, they left, but only K7 left and went to do his own..if I'm wrong, then so be it. They "TKA" did not cross over to Salsa or any other style of music,,only K7. Does that still mean the entire TKA has to be classified? NO.

AGAIN, THIS IS JUST MY OPINION....LUV YA GIRLEY....

It seems that alot of good points were brought out in this post. But still. there has been no agreement on who should be proclaimed as Queen or King. Maybe because there really isn't one just yet.

Yes Safire has done alot since her debut into he scene and so has Lisette Melendez and many other female artists out there. Maybe it's just to early to crown anyone just yet! Let time take it's course and we'll see who will raise up and grasp the crown in this everlasting battle.

The reason being because these artists are still in the heat of the battle (if there is one). Judy can be ruled out since she claimed she wanted to go into another genre of music some time ago. Safire and Cynthia both started around the same time and even though Safire has done more in the scene, we can't rule out Cynthia or Lisette yet. They are still continuing to make music and more Freestyle.

As for king, well, Stevie B has done alot and so ha Johnny. But Johnny has the popular vote over Stevie B. Both are adored in Europe as we can see from the ZYX comps. I mean damn, they even made a Johnny O Vs. Stevie B mix. This is closing in on who will take Freestyle to the next level.

A king or queen rules, yes, but also takes his/her kingdom to a better way of living that both will vantage from. Let's see who can do that with Freestyle.

Remember, it's not over till the fat, horned helmet wearing, lady sings!

what are u talking about cause u are contridicting yourself...so u are saying just cause he does salsa he left freestyle??? he can come out with 10 freestyle albums but that wont matter cause he did salsa...listen he came out with a freestyle album in 99 i feel if you dont know about it then thats your lost, but u shouldnt comment if you dont know...FYI he still does clubs with freestyle....also if u compare that to tka, did u give a listen to thier new album...my question to you is WHERE IS THE FREESTYLE??? only two tracks can be deemed freestyle at best!!!!
