Here is the question...Is ZYX becoming another Hot Productions?

It seams that every new thread on this board is about a remake that ZYX is going to release (Johnny O. "FANTASY GIRL" and "DIANA/"DON'T YOU WANT ME" Adam Marano & Lil' Suzy)...

At one time, Hot Productions released what seemed to be a new Freestyle Compilation per week. They didn't care what it sounded like as long as it was labeled as Freestyle. Ultimately that killed their reputation and they have since undergone 2 name changes (First they went from Hot Productions to Hot-JWP Music. They are now currently going by the name of Empire Music and being distributed by BMG)...

I have heard plenty of ZYX Freestyle and remakes aside (don't even get me started) it seems that they will release anything and everything Freestyle regardless of the quality...

What is your opinion???

Rhoq do you want my opinion? Maybe not:nahnah but I am trying to be an optimist and hope they do right by Johnny O and whichever other freestyle artists old and new they pick up!

Like i said before, and you should know this, Rhoq, ZYX has been around for a very long time. if they want to do this with Johnny's album, let them. They are in the business to sell records. we are in the business to buy and listen to them. ZYX does not "crank out" the same number as freestyle albums as "HOT" had at one time. ZYX takes thier time and studies the market.

@ Rhoq,

i think about the same like you did.....

As far for ZYX in Germany they produce mainly shit....
The Freestyle Vol Series are so bad.....Mainly old stuff and Music what never have to do something with Freestyle.....

They Produce no quality stuff just quantity....me and many of my friends here dont buy the stuff from Zyx.

I feel that some threads about Zyx(Johnny O ) are overhyped....When they think, that Zyx is promoting their artists....forget it.

The only thing i ever seen was a commercial about the Freestyle Vol.series about 2 Years ago....thats it.

Just my opinion
Peter😱

So, if your theories are they "still put out shit" then how are they still in business? if they sell "shit", that means they put out garbage and no one buys it. so, how are they still in business and if they did so poorly with the freestyle, why are they doing it again?

remember, some good songs came off of ZYX. (not all freestyle, however)

The ONLY label which had some chart success in Germany with freestyle music within the last years was ZYX with their compilations and some Stevie B and Johnny O stuff...
Their success encouraged a lot of other labels as they realised... hey... freestyle sells...
Why don´t you see that it´s a good thing for us to have a remake on the market which sells well???
Some new fresh releases will follow them...
Every freestyle fan must admit that Germany is a great market for freestyle.
But the main reasons for this are some remakes and a lot of re-released Stevie B and Johnny O stuff!
Think about Anthony Norris, Freestyle Project, Stonay, Free System... Releases from ZYX... Just think about it!

And by the way... I don´t care if a song is a remake or not as long as I have this special feeling when I´m listening to it...
I´m looking forward to the single release of "Don´t you want me".
And I´m sure some of the people complaining here are also doing this!

Speaking of Mic Mac - Micky wrote in to us recently
and extended his support for everyone at ClubFreestyle.

@ Kenny Guido,

all i have to say is, that when you go to CD Stores arround where i live and in other German Citys, too the Racks where the Zyx Sampler are standing are always full no one i knew buy the stuff here anymore....Just 2 or 3 good Songs on a Sampler and pay the Full Price....You have to know that a CD cost arround 20 Euros over here and it is a lot of Money...1 Euro is arround 2 Marks back in the old currency and 1 US $ was 2.30. and this is the opinion of a lot of People i knew that they produce no quality stuff.
Francis from France i think have the same opinion.

And as you can read in other threads about JohnnyO/Zyx that Zyx cares about their Artists and promote them......personally i can laugh about this statement.

But the other thing is, that there are not so many Freestyle Albums out in the US or Canada, too what is worth all the money you spend and you dont find Sampler or Albums where all the songs are pretty hot.........but Zyx is overflooding the market with quantity....no quality.

@ S.A.Y,

listening to some remakes of songs is a pain in the ass....
and Germany was a big market for Freestyle.....as i wrote before....all the Racks with Freestyle especially the ZYX stuff is always full or you find no Freestyle at all cause they put it out of their sortiment. And the Freestyle Scene over here is really quiet.

I am sorry if I didn't make myself clear. When I asked if ZYX was fastly becoming another Hot Productions, I wasn't refering to the quantity of releases, just the quality.

Hot Productions had been in business for over a decade before their slew of CrapStyle releases flooded the market in the late 1990's...ZYX is a relative newcomer to the Freestyle Genre, their previous 2 decade history really is irrelevant. If they continue to put out sub-par Freestyle Compilations their name will quickly become "MUD" to the Freestyle fans.

I feel like ZYX IS doing the same thing Hot did back in the day.Even worse because they keep pulling sorry tracks from has been artists that have gone WAY past their peak. They are not flooding the market..They have flooded it already.I saw this two years ago and made a choice.Id rather not have distribution in europe than be a part of THAT.I do wonder what its like to be one of those artists who was once really famous now desperate enuf to take a deal from ZYX.What does it feel like to be laughed at by the industry folks here in the states???Does the little bit of money they advance you really make it feel worth the embarrassment?
kF:crap

Johnny shopped around for a long time for a label. He had some offers with indies and a couple of big american labels but he chose ZYX. Afterall, he was the only MICMAC artist signed to ZYX a decade earlier and he did make it to #1 in europe. so, why not go with the guys that made you #1? COMMON SENSE.

🙄

u need to put that in ur quote, i hear that out of ur mouth too damn much!!!! :hearton
