I do wonder what its like to be one of those artists who was once really famous now desperate enuf to take a deal from ZYX.What does it feel like to be laughed at by the industry folks here in the states???Does the little bit of money they advance you really make it feel worth the embarrassment?
kF:crap

With all due respect I'll have to disagree with you on this one Kennyfreestle. Even though I too am not very happy with the state in which our music industry is in, I'll have to say that I'm proud of ANY artist/Recording label who is still willing to at least attempt to keep the beats alive. I know its hard to accept that the glorious days are gone and I too have been disappointed with some of my ZYX purchases, but I still praise them for at least keeping Freestyle alive. And as for the artists, I hope you were not talking about Johnny O because although I would have been more happy if he stayed with pure Freestyle on his new album I have nothing but respect for this man. So if you ask me its not an embarrassment, but rather an honor to do what he's doing. And to those who you say are laughing, I have one thing to say: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR FREESTYLE???:johnnyo

Please do u really think that its about Freestyle music to them? They dont give two shits about freestyle music. Its all about holes in the market place and business. If anyone really cared they would put more time quality and thought into their releases.Instead its labeled freestyle and reminds me of non alcholic beer.

Peter,

it´s just not true that ZYX stuff does not sell over here... I´m involved in the music business over here, so I´m getting the charts every week.
Just have a look at the top 30 compilation charts after the release of a ZYX comp.
It´s not representative when you see some full racks in a few cd stores.
I think some record stores out there even have a storage...

Hey... It´s just the business... The labels are releasing potential hot sellers...

from a business mans perspective ZYX does great business!!From a freestyle lovers perspective they are ............
zyx can do whatever they like and put out overhyped comebacks...(and u know exactly who I mean)That dosent mean that I have to buy it or like it.I will change my tune when I see some real balls. For now its undaground f**k a euro record deal.
much luv

Well, I hope i answered the question of "why did Johnny O pick ZYX". I admit, ZYX does put out alot of stuff, and only 3% makeS it big (my x-dj parnter worked for ZYX RECORDS on Long Island & gave me the 411) but Johnny knows what he is doing. Many of the artists that release new material on ZYX have little or no success but JOHNNY O is an established musician and he knows the label well and they have taken care of them before by getting his song to #1 in the past. So, "please be patient" as a legend is "RE-BORN"!

Resurrected into an insolvent market?

its actually surprising to me that I havent heard much on this forum about Chapter 3.. there are several very good songs on the CD. there are also several female guest vocalists, stephanie marano, "sonia" and "monique". I got my copy at some small record store which I forget the name of, on broadway a few blocks north of wall street.

I heard it was RARE and very hard to get, considering it was still fairly new. I went over to my friends shop last week and he ordered it as i watched.

BTW, our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST was born into an impoverished world, no one made any bad comments about that!

LOL

Jesus is NOT everyone's lord & savior. People all around the world are different races, color and religions...I find it interesting that someone would compare the return of Johnny O. to the legend of Jesus Christ.

This further proves my belief that many of the people that frequent Club Freestyle truly believe that these Freestyle artists are gods in their eyes. The truth is, all of these artists are no different or any better than anyone here. The moment you treat them like a celebrity or a god is the minute the artists begin to believe that crap themselves!!!

LMAO

Chapter 3 is not "rare" it just seems like limited copies were made. Combined with less then stellar distribution. Not the best Chapter!

Im not comparing Johnny O to God, merely using Him as an example. You are to quik to assume things Rhoq. Just like many people have thier own Gods, many people have thier own beliefs in thier favorite music.

not to debate with you but if there is a certain number of things that are released and hard to get, it does make it "rare" (just like the latin rascals cd)

I put them up on a celebrity level. Whats wrong with that? I pay my good money to see them an but thier music. Are you saying that you are equal to them? Are you going on tour selling records and doing benefit concerts? Lemme know, Rhoq.....I'll be your first "FAN".🙄

🙂 I just couldn't see a 2001 release as "rare" I still stand by limited copies and very poor distribution. Thanks for straigtening me out!

And I think God, Religion and Politics should be off limit. Don't we have a hard enough time just talking about freestyle :hearton

And I think Rhoq's point is well taken. Many of the artist that are on these boards talk about being just like the rest of us, fans, trying to make a living, take care of their families, etc. They have made decisions according to just that. I applaud them for saying they aren't better or different from us. They just have a different talent than the rest of us who chose other paths because we can't sing!!!

Crap

"...then how are they still in business? if they sell "shit", that means they put out garbage and no one buys it. so, how are they still in business and if they did so poorly with the freestyle, why are they doing it again?" Kenny Guido

No one ever said just because it is shit that no one will buy it. I own almost every Freestyle CD ever pressed - shitty or not.

You know what always struck me as funny...
People are always dogging others for putting out crappy music. This is a business. Some people do shady business.

Sometimes record companies make more money off of the shit - not the hit!

You never go on an Alternative music website and hear fans crying that record companies are putting out too much crappy modern rock, and that it will ruin the genre. Well maybe people complain about Creed, but that’s a given!)

You never go on a Hip-Hop music website and hear fans crying that record companies are putting out too much crap Rap , and that it will ruin the genre. Hip-Hop Heads stick together in the public eye.

People don’t complain about those kinds of crappy music, because they either never heard of it, don't listen to it, or don’t buy it.

Freestyle Fans know about every upcoming release, because there are so few of them - that is why every Freestyle release is under a microscope. That is also why Freestyle Fans are so quick to criticize the bad releases for being bad, or even worse, close their ears and eyes and just say "all Freestyle sounds great" even when they know its not true.

And I'm not saying don’t talk bad about crappy Freestyle
I don't care either way - good or bad, I say bring it on. the more Freestyle, the better!

For the record a lot of Freestyle over in Germany sounds like crap to me, but the fans are begging for more. Whatever comes out over there people buy it, and sometimes they are disappointed by what they hear and stop spending their money! Sound familiar?

So do what you want buy every Freestyle release and get burned sometimes.

Or wait for the reviews, and don't buy the crap, just buy the good stuff. But wait I forgot... A lot of Freestyle Fans aren't buying the good stuff either. Things thet make you go hmmmmmmmm!
