But you know this what pisses me off when there are priest in the church saying it's wrong to be gay etc.etc. but then there priest molesting children and the church covers up there actions.

I'M WITH YOU ON THIS ONE. MY SON HAD TO DO A REPORT ON CURRENT NEWS AND HE PICKED GAY MARRIAGES. GUESS WHAT THE TEACHER'S IN HIS SCHOOL SAID? THAT SINCE ITS A CATHOLIC SCHOOL HE COULD NOT DO THE REPORT SINCE THE CHURCH IS AGAINST GAY MARRIAGES.

That's totally giving kids the wrong message AND impression of Gay's, Gay marriage, and the Gay lifestyle....figures though, it's a "Catholic" school.

THEY ARE GIVING THEM THE WRONG IMPRESSION. THEN THEY WONDER WHY THERE ARE SO MANY HATE CRIMES. BUT THE SCHOOL WILL BE HEARING FROM ME.

Well, the Church is going to do what it takes to protect it self. The Church is like an enterprize it has to keep it self running to protect it self as an entreprize instead of a place of worship. The church should be worried about all the priest it relocates to another churches to hide there molesting. Worry about the families and the damages the a$$holes have to the child. They should be praying for forgiveness for ruining so many peoples lives. Thats what they should be worried about.

Yo, Tank, what exactly are you "spitting" out? Hmmm.... LOL 🙂

SeductiveNena- Good for you. Don't let the teacher do "your" job- you raise your son however way you want. As for the teacher and the school itself....all they are doing is teaching discrimination, which rolls over into hate.

LOL!

That is so funny that you referred to the "church" as an enterprise.. My brother says that all the time. I understand they need "donations" to function, but some times it feels like that's all they care about.

My boys go to catholic school also, but not sure they'll be there next year. It is getting way to expensive. Not to defend the "Catholic" church, but I know other religions that condemn their teachings because they try to update what they are trying to teach, you know? My ex is a born again Christian and well, he preached to me how my religion is true to the bible because it changes it's preaching to adjust to the times. So it's a lose lose situation I guess.

What I'm trying to say is... even if a church would like to support a same sex marriage, I believe in the "old fashion" eyes of their followers, would be too much for them to bare.

That's like interractial couples... I see nothing wrong with it. I mean, like I said... it is so hard to find that special someone to have to worry about someone's skin color or if they are the same sex.

Wow, I talked so much and I know I didn't make sense. lol

I want to go home and back in bed. lol

Marriage is a tremendous mistake. Why should Heterosexuals be the only ones allowed to commit it. :inlove

I have several gay friends AND my family is friends with a very high-ranking member of the catholic church (a step below bishop).

I have asked BOTH what their take on the whole issue, and this is what they had to say.

The official (who is a very kind and intelligent person) said that he understands and feels for homosexuals that want to legitimize their union, and he definitely supports measures that grant rights to domestic partners. He does NOT, however, support gay marriages in church because the church's definition of marriage is a union between man and woman for the purpose of procreation. Because a gay couple will not procreate, the church will not marry them. NOW, before anyone gets in a tizzy, understand that when two people marry in the catholic faith, they MUST declare that they are AT LEAST open to the POSSIBILITY of creating a family. In some places, if two people say that they 100% NEVER will want kinds (even if they're man and woman) the church will NOT marry them.

My gay friend said:

He loves his partner and wants to make his commitment "official" but does not expect the church to change their definition of marriage. He says that he wants a civil law that will grant them "rights" as a union.

MY TAKE: Although I am for gay rights, and I expect that the government will make some concessions, I don't think it's right for fanatics to bash the church and to expect the church to change their definition of marriage.

Some people are shortsighted and cannot see the implications of their argument. I've thought this out and (although I disagree with the church in many ways) I definitely understand their point.

Now... The civil government is NOT the church and because it should be "government by the people FOR the people..." there needs to be legislation passed that supports same-sex and domestic partner unions.

Most gay people who want to marry don't really care about the church's definition of marriage. Couples who get married in city hall are still legally married. That's the issue worth fighting for. In this country, where there is supposed to be a separation of church and state, though I'm seriously beginning to wonder, all people should legally be entitled to the same rights. Everyone's religious battles should be dealt with independent of the law.

I don't disagree with you, Natural, I just believe that domestic partnerships are not enough. The word marriage represents a legal union between two people and gay people should be entitled to marry.
