Wow I can't believe this is happening! WHatever happened to doing it fo rthe kids? I mean, ok I agree with both sides, two days would be good one for toys and one for food. the 17th would be great for the toys, cause they will be expecting it before Christmas and also kids will be able to go and recieve the gifts themselves., and the 27th will be good for the food drive ( good one jade) and I am sure there will be alot of artist who will want to share in both events, and if they can't make it to one they can make it to the other.

But let's keep it as a childrens event not a site war. Please this is ridiculous already. I personally wish that we can do this every month, because kids dying of aids, who need love and attention every day, or the orphanges who need clothes and happiness every day of the week whether we perform or not. Come on people let's keep this where it needs to be focused, which is on these kids!

On another note I do not want to upset anyone here but here is my opinion, if we are going to do it for the kids a club will not nessacarily be the best place for them, I thought we wanted the kids to be there., bu this is why I think the two dates would be good. Regardless, i will do whatever even if it is both days, as long as it's for the kids and the underprivildged.

I thank both Victor and Jack for bringing this up, but let's keep focused please, for once let's do this without any fighting!
 
For people who think I was kissing Jack's ass, you can kiss mine. For those of you who I make feel like puking, puke ahead, just not on me, and the feeling is probably mutual.

This was intended as a good cause. I think Victor's only mistake was that he was too anxious and ended up booking 2 events not thinking about it logistically cause #1 he's not an event organizer and #2 cause he was only thinking about good intentions hopefully (although I'm questioning the whole desire for publicity, but whatever)

My job is as an event planner, which is why I understood Jack's frustration. It is very dificult to plan and organize an event and it takes A LOT of effort. LOADS OF EFFORT. And when another event with the same everything pretty much is also being organized on a separate date at a different venue then the 2 events conflict and neither one will have as successful turnout as if there was only one event.

And like Sexy said, this was a concert for children, where ALL proceeds go to the charity and the children, not just a percentage. And a bar/lounge is not necessarily an appropriate venue either.

I understand what your saying angie but at no time did Victor suggest about having the kids present for the drive and what he did say was "Is there any way we can get together and do an event or something to get toys for the children who are less fortunate." He never mentioned a charity for christmas or anything of this sort. All he asked was about doing an event to collect toys. The 17 was suggest but never confirmed. As a singer you can't call me the day before to tell me I have a show tomorrow or tell me a few days in advance when you have other people confirming you weeks in advance for other events. We have the 27 then lets do the 27 also, all the toys collected are going to be donated to a charity. Christmas isn't just one day in the year, it should be everyday and if a child didn't get a gift for Christmas imagine how broken hearted they must be but imagine getting a gift a few days afterwards. They don't care that they didn't get a present for Christmas, all the care about is that Santa didn't forget them, even if the present is late. They'll just think that Santa has not finished giving the presents out. Jacks college will be giving their toys to whatever charity they use. The event at Blossom would be to give to whatever charity there is out there that we can give to or just give the toys to Jacks college. At no time did anyone say that the children would be present for the event. The whole cause is to collect toys to give to a children charity group. So it must be me but I still don't see what the big deal is. I must be stupid or something but I really don't see what the issue is here. Toys will be collect and some child is going to be really happy here, that's what I see.

Yo Victor, I'm not sure if I'll be in town on the 27th. I have some recording obligations for that weekend in Ft. Lauderdale.....I'll let you know!

I also wanted to thank all the artist that are giving of their time and showing support. Lets keep this going and forget all the negative!!

My problem is with the location a bar/lounge honestly it isnt a good setting for kids its a toy drive where kids will be invited to come down and recieve these gifts I have no children but if I did such a setting would not compell me to come down. Secondly to charge admission and request that you bring a gift is kind of crazy. You either charge admission to raise money for gifts or collect gifts you cant have both makes no sense and as I said said not to many artist will be to keen on finding out that an event they were told was a charity drive has turned into something else.
 
Ok then, give your kids, or nieces, nephews, cousins etc. their Christmas presents a month later and tell me how you explain "Santa's" tardiness. Just because the collection happens on the 17th or the 27th doesn't mean the toys will be out the next day. Just like you need notice for bookings, charities need time to organize and get the toys out. Most volunteers jump ship after Christmas, so the man power for distribution after Christmas isn't like it is before hand. As an adult one can understand why a gift is late. No 4 year old kid is gonna understand why Santa was at the neighbour's house and not his.
 
And the Dare to Dream concert is open to the underprivileged kids. SO no, Victor didn't say invite the kids, but the worthy charity Jack found is at a college and open to the little kids. I like the idea that little kids will get to see and hear a concer tthey might not otherwise get to see because of the genre, and that concerts elsewhere cost money and that most little kids can't go to bars. But what do I know?
 
Well putting my beef aside with Victor & Fernanda who I am Very upset at for reasons mentioned here and other reason reguarding how things are handled.......

Kids need Toys and Food.
Our plan is not a Night Club based event. It is for the kids to enjoy and get toys in a setting that they will be comfortable in.
Cover charge is 1 toy. No money - No Way.
Anyway I got involved because I want to help and always do.

YEP THATS TRUE AND THOSE OF US WHO HAVE KIDS WOULD'VE BROUGHT THEM TO HELP GIVE OUT THE TOYS. MY KIDS WERE DOWN WITH THE IDEA AND WERE READY AND WILLING TO HELP.

Then is should have been clarified as to what type of event because the artist I spoke to are under the impression this is an event where the children will be present and gifts given out that is one of the main reasons they have signed on to meet the children and give out the gifts. Everything should have been planned accordingly and not sparadically posted up on the board.

Angie, I agee. This is something that is not handled on a thread but over the phone. I see lack of communication, a phone call away and things would have been handle much better. The night club thing came up as an alternative in case some people couldn't make it to the 17 event. Most people work and the 27 was another opportunity to donate toys, not necessarily have the kids there but as a last minute toy collection. But things were taken wrong and people got upset. It would be nice to have the kids present but if that's impossible I didn't see anything wrong with the night club as long as admission to the club is a toy since the artist are donating their time for the cause. But lets see what happens.
