HOW ABOUT:

"SONG CONCERNING LOVE WITH A SLOW BEAT BY FREESTYLE ARTISTS"?

YEA...MUCH BETTER!! 🙄

I have always called them "freestyle love song" (thinking of you, one more try)

as opposed to "freestyle dance songs", which is the norm for the average freestyle song. (maria, love story)

Orgntr1.......dont sweat it!! were akk entitled to let off a little steam! but dont let it get out of hand. 🙂

but honestly, the CD that is out with the title isnt getting any people on their case for its title "FREESTYLE LOVES SONGS", so i suppose it is right, eh?

Just wait til' William Walker (executive producer) or anyone else from the Thump gang posts in this thread. *LOL*

LL COOL J has a few slow jams in his albums and so does TUPAC,....those slow jams are still considered 'Rap Music',... why is it wrong to call Freestyle Slow Jams Freestyle? It's still all in the same genre of music,....what would an artist say about this discussion, I would like to know their opinion. Like SaFire, That would've been a great question to ask her.

much luv,
~TheGirlNextDoor

To be honest with ya, LL COOL J'S and TUPAC'S love songs are still considered "RAP" is because thats what they are doing!!! they "RAP" in those slow songs (i need love) too. just a slower tempo. "RAP" is just the way the lyrics come out.

u see Kenny that's what I'm talking about, Tupac and LL are still rapping to a slower beat and it's still considered RAP, but the argument here is, that because of the slower beats and tempo the slow jams freestyle artists sing aren't freestyle.

They're still singing but to a slower beat....still freestyle.

I bet if we were to remix the freestyle love songs (new beat and speed up the vocals) it would sound like FREESTYLE!!

thats what the rap love songs are. TheGirlNextDoor and myself are the only ones that see it that way?😕

A slow jam is just a slow jam, no matter who sings it... For example the song "I Still Believe" is a pop slow jam which was originally recorded by Brenda K. Starr. However, to classify that song as a Freestyle Slow Jam, would be incorrect, since Mariah Carey remade that song years later...and to consider "I Still Believe" a Freestyle Slow Jam, would mean that Mariah Carey's version is a Freestyle Slow Jam as well, because a song cannot change genres simply because someone else is singing it. So Brenda's version can't be considered one genre, and Mariah's a totally different genre, because it is ultimately the same song. Either they are both pop slow jams or Freestyle slow jams. Take into consideration the fact that Mariah's version does not stray away too much from Brenda's, as to turn the song into one of a totally different genre.

JUST 4GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i didnt know this was such a debate. tha question was if u had a favorite slow jam(s) by a freestyle artist...what r they? thats all! i think both sides r right in different ways. i guess there's just no answer to whether or not slow jams by freestyle artists r still freestyle or not. there's too many valid points for both sides.

but calm down people - ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i mean DAMN!!!

i keep 4gettin Brenda K. Starr on all my lists! she's definately a freestyle fantasy girl and i like "i still believe" as one of my favorite......whateva u wanna call it!!!!!! LOL

here come all the little know it alls coming out trying to prove they know something...blah blah blah blah blah!!!

best freestyle slow songs are:
goodbye-lamond
she walked out of my life-lamond
just once-miguel reyes

LOL @Kenny
only Cynthia!

good one @Toni - i 4got about "goodbye". he really tore that one up! i felt tha pain! LOL

Since a lot of the Newschool Freestyle is over 130bpm, i've realized that the Oldschool Freestyle songs, which are typically in the 120s (bpm) can very well be considered to be Freestyle Slow Jams...*LOL*

With that in mind, some of my favorite ones are:

"Spring Love" - Stevie B
"Change On Me" - Cynthia
"Don't Ever Go Away" - Jeannette
"No More Tears" - Billy Ray
"Tears May Fall" - TKA

These are just a few...i'll post some more of my favorites if this thread remains alive.

MY FAVORITES

TWO SONGS NOT MENTIONED:

Judy Torres - You're My Everything (My wife and I had this song played at our wedding) and Can You Find A Way... into this broken heart. I can't remember who it's by. I think its Cynthia. I remember that it's on a MicMac label from my djing days. Also, Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam's All Cried Out (I still remember all the girls would start to cry whenever I would play this song). Now, it just brings back all those memories. Ahh...
