I'm sure you're thinking of "Be Mine Tonight" by Promise Circle. It was released by Atlantic Records, and the lyrics went like this:

Be mine tonight, It's been so long

Promise Circle had a follow up single on Atlantic called "Easy To Touch" which is pretty decent too.

If you're looking for a copy of that song, there's a c.d. series called "FreeStyle Explosion". It's 6 c.d.s and "Be Mine Tonight" is on Vol. 1.

If I remember right, the series is released through Thump Records, and I've seen it in a few different record stores.

yes you are correct
i've seen vols.1-5 sold in box
vol.6 came in 2001 i believe
AND VOL.7 WAS RELEASED I BELIEVE IN JUNE
