i was also into "freestylin" with my REDLINE at SCORPION HILL in massapequa. had a class ring with a guy on a bike with "FREESTYLE" underneath it. now, hows that for a "FREESTYLE" fan?????

hmmmm.....youre gonna laugh but i think my first club concert was TIFFANY at UNCLE SAMS (SPIT, SIN SITY) then it was STEVIE B @ ESCAPES. NO....WAIT......COVERGIRLS IN 1987 WAS MY FIRST!!

Jack G thanks for the memories

I used to hack games for that system (C64) w/ a friend...

I think I have every game & device ever made for that PC & the Amiga 500...

But back to the Topic...

1988 - Was a special year. Freestyle may have hit it's peak at that time because every radio station in NYC were playing it...

I remember Graduating from Brandeis High School (84th st. & Manhattan)...

The best clubs back then were:

Studio 54
Roxy's
L' Amor East
Palladium
1018
La Mirage
Heart-Throbs (but it died quickly thanks to Hoodlums)The Underground (across the street from Paragon Sports on 18th st. & Manhattan)
Copacabana (East 60th st.)
&
(believe it or not) Emerald City...

And who can forget the beach in the Summer...

Man! I wish that time could have been frozen back then...

yo INFINIT1.......i used to live right there!!! i lived on 86th and LEX, right across from the HMV!! back in 89....when HOT 97 was good, they would have freestyle artists there every friday. it was mobbed!! did you know they used to shoot "THE JEFFERSONS" just a few buildings over? talk about "moving on up"!!! i felt like that was us they were singing about in the song!

Damn Baja -- great post -- made me laugh, but yours and others also brought a TEAR to my eye .. I see kids today and wonder .. I just shake my head .......

I had SO much fun back then .. I was 17 in 1988 and havin the TIME OF MY LIFE -- nothing can EVER compare to those days ...

I can go on FORVER tellin stories about concerts, clubs, parties, and just THINGS in general that we ALL used to do and see - it was definitely something that can NEVER be duplicated !!! I don't think that society today allows for such GREAT TIMES !

Damn, I remember all that hype about Samantha Fox ... and we all thought it was the same chick too, until we finally SAW the movie and it wasn't her ... oh, the disappointment !!! LOL !!

An interesting Samantha Fox sidenote.......Back in 1988 there used to be a Music Factory in the Staten Island Mall, which is where I would buy all my vinyl....Across the entire ceiling of the store was posters hung up...In the back of the store they had all the naughty posters...The Barbi Twins, Jessica Hahn, and of course Samantha Fox....all topless...and here's my little 8 year old ass staring up at the ceiling....Needless to say my mom caught me and I wasn't allowed to go in the back of the store anymore..."Naughty Girls" was without a doubt my #1 song of that year....Freddy Bastone did a "hot mix" that they used to play on the radio that I would go nuts trying to catch so I could tape it off the radio...I spent the whole summer trying to get it, and I finally got it on Labor Day weekend, when the summer was ending....I actually still have that tape....Ahhhhhh Samantha Fox....the memories lol

I was cruising up and down Ridge Rd in Lyndhurst, NJ, Bloomfield ave in Bloomfield, NJ, Ocean ave in Seaside Heights in my Guido'd out White 1986 Firebird. Blasting Freestyle and house music chasing down all the chicks ! Then I went home and tried to learn how to become a DJ. lol

Damn, those were the days !!!

😀

I thought BPM was in the strip mall located across from FIU University Park campus (where the University Theaters were)? I went in there a couple of times, I guess I might've met Eddie Mix without knowing it!
