Woah, tarp, I'm surprised that someone from the US can like so much Canadian Freestyle! Seriously, most (not all) US Freestylers seem to dislike Canadian Freestyle since it doesn't have the 'latin roots'. You pretty much named 2 of my fave tracks on your newschool list (Luca and Irene). I like Elissa's track, but I prefer Back to Me and Bailando. 😀

I'm middle eastern and I was into eurodance before I got into freestyle music... so the freestyle from Toronto is what I like to pump.. it has more energy.

On my last trip to Canada, I was sitting in a Pizza Nova in Aurora, and Luca's song comes on Z103.5. I was surprised that freestyle actually gets airplay up there. Here in D.C. we basically have Urban, Top 40, Country, and Talk.
 
sorry if i'm responding but...

well in toronto freestyle gets played but not enough for me. Z103 and it's sister station play freestyle but thats really it and it's a shame, cause at least in T.O. alot of people say they don't like freestyle but as soon as a song is played either in a lub or on the radio they are the first ones to sing along.

Listen, i was just reading some of the past posts from this thread, and i think Kid Heartbreak has some good points and some bad, negative points about Hip Hop, Freestyle, Canada, U.S., etc...........

i also think that he should have a right to say what he feels, but since ppl on here love the music regardless of it's name or origin, i think Jack did a good job of knocking him out!

What is going on here? I just spent over a half hour reading this long thread. Is that the same Kid Heartbreak who's a Chicago Freestyle legend? If it is, that's wierd cuz I must have at least 15 different CDs of his. You can tell by his mixing style that he's into the hardcore sound. Most of what he said was exactly right and thats probubly why the canada peepz got so upset. If kid was wrong, people would have just disregarded his opinions and not paid any attention to him. The fact that this guy was apparently banned and made a martyr shows that people did take him seriously as he was right about a lot of things.
 
I'm from the US and I love Canada freestyle.... That Kid guy is living in the 80's and does not know shh... I have friends who don't really listen to freestyle but know the sound because of me.... If I were to play Dimi 'Only One' - they would definitely recognize it as freestyle. I would also classify freestyle and euro in the same genre but different types of music, anyway.......
