No honey, I didn't edit Kid's post. In fact I don't think anyone did, otherwise it would say at the bottom of his post "Last edited on {date} by {whoever did it}".
I was going to post something in response to his comment, but then I saw that my dude bros had the situation well under control! 😛
Anyways my top 5 songs of all time? That's hard but here are some:
1. Silent Morning
2. Dreamboy, Dreamgirl
3. Take Me In Your Arms
4. Spring Love
5. Lookout Weekend
6. Love Never Ends
7. Fallen Angel
Kid is right. Euro has no place in freestyle. Freestyle comes from hip hop. I'm just speaking the facts. The Canadian people can't stand the fact that they're representing freestyle the wrong way. This is why freestyle is dead. In the United States, Freestyle headz don't usually listen to Euro. However, many of them do like hip hop.
freestyle & euro are in the same genre - get your sh*t straight
freestyle is only dead to ones that want to see the end of it - freestyle is still being made today - therefore it is NOT dead - if you don't like the direction that freestyle is taking then don't listen to it and leave it alone - how can you call yourself (-selves) "freestyle headz" if you don't support the music?
HNIC, Freestyle came from Hip Hop??? The only way I see Freestyle related to Hip Hop is Planet Rock being on Tommy Boy records and it being part of the Breakdance era. But it did not come from Hip Hop. But I really see Freestyle as starting from Shannon and Nayobe. Some called it Latin Hip Hop, but that doesn't make it Hip Hop. The only time when Freestyle has a chance on being played in DJ mixes and on radio nowadays is when the mix or station playlist has Euro or House in it.
Jade, someone did edit his post as it originally said "meatheadz", and I know it usually says someone edited it at time, date etc, but I thought maybe a mod can remove that.
A couple of things, I'm starting to guess that Kid and HNIC are thinking of "Freestyle" as in the hip-hop version of Freestyle, seriously, I see no other reason why they would be saying that Freestyle is not connected to euro. Thereo, I think chyqo was trying to defend us, I hope you're not insulting him. Freestyle is clearly in the same category as euro/dance, and I think that's a good thing...
If freestyle is dead because of people like us canadians who like both freestyle and euro, then why is it that there's more freestyle coming out of Canada than the U.S? There's even more freestyle coming out of Germany than the U.S. You wanna tell me that germans are hardcore hip hoppers? lol
And if freestyle is hip hop, then why is it that the.. "hip hoppers" in my school always give me bad looks when I put on freestyle during my workouts? Just something to think about.
First of all, you can't even begin to compare Toronto with the big rough cities like Chicago and New York. Second of all, Freestyle does NOT come from Toronto so you guys have no say so. The reason why hip hop headz are not all that approving of Freestyle is because of the direction that freestyle has gone in. New York and Chicago gave up on freestyle a long time ago. The people that were listening to freestyle in these markets were inner city Hispanics that saw the music as an alternative to the already popular rap & hip hop. When freestyle was abandoned in these markets, most of the people who were part of the target audience went all hip hop. In Canada, where people are soft and lame (& thus they like Euro), they decided to experiment with freestyle. That's why much of the freestyle that comes from Canada sounds very Euro-like. This is why all these tight shirt club people from Toronto associate Euro and Freestyle together. Outsiders see this and it gives freestyle a bad name. That's why most people in Chicago and New York tend to like old skool style a whole lot more. In the United States, Euro gets NO respect whatsoever. It's viewed as cheezy lame stuff from Europe. IF YOU DON'T KNOW THAT FREESTYLE COMES FROM HIP HOP, THEN YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS REP'N IT AND YOU ARE A DIRECT REASON WHY FREESTYLE IS NO LONGER RESPECTED. TORONTO MUST BE A CITY OF IDIOTS. JUST BECAUSE YOU GUYS LIKE TO MIX EURO WITH YOUR FREESTYLE AND DON'T HAVE THE BRAINS TO LEARN YOUR HISTORY, DON'T TRY TO CHANGE THE FACTS. FREESTYLE WAS INTENDED TO BE AN ALTERNATIVE TO HIP HOP FOR THE NUYORICANS BACK IN THE DAY. WHY DO YOU THINK THAT MANY NEW YORK FREESTYLE ARTISTS ARE RELUCTANT TO DO EURO? BECAUSE EVERYONE WILL LAUGH AT THEM THE WAY EVERYONE LAUGHS AT THE CANADIENS.
By the way, the hip hop headz in Toronto are not real hip hop headz anyway. They don't understand the true history and relationships of musical genres. They're just trying to be thugged out like us Chicago and New York headz. I thank God whenever I get the chance for being born in a REAL city like Chicago, not one of these small wannabe no-name cities like Toronto or Cincinnati. You Toronto weaklings try to sound real hard on the internet. Good for you. Just don't try coming to the hoodz of Chicago or New York cuz you wouldn't survive.
