The reason is quite obvious. Its to get Joel's name back out there in the public eye. If im not mistaken the last station he programmed was the Gold station on 105.1 in new york that was like a oldies station for black music. But get this on HD Radio and would be awesome. Satelitte Radio which i have cant compete with Free HD Radio.

my thing is joel is very respected and people still to this day know what he was and is capable of, but his efforts in this are very good, he was the one that broke a lot of the freestyle and made a lot of the dj play it, he has an ear of gold...
 
I agree! Joels leadership of HOt broke Freestyle and Dance Music to the Masses Period. Love to Get this onto a Major FM Station.

Well.. I hope this more than just gets Joel's name "out there". I hope it wakes somebody up and helps to get this type of music on the air again. I really don't see how anyone can find it BAD to play a mix of great, old Freestyle and Dance songs with new ones.. It really could be like Hot 103 / Hot 97 never went away...

One important factor is becoming a VIP member at Live365.. This will help Joel from taking money from his own pocket to keep the station running. It's an internet station. It shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to keep alive..

In regards to radio. Honestly.. I think there's be FAR more listeners to an an XM/Sirius station than an HD station. How many people have HD capabilities? How can a station "make it" without any listeners?
 
I know very little about HD but I know once you get it, its free. It comes standard now on many car radios such as kenwood, aiwa and sony. unfortunetly, I am a pioneer man. I update my car radio every couple of years so when its time to upgrade and HOT 97 is on HD, will get it.

i made the image..i made it with images of the delorean readily available on a public level and am using it for promotional use only..sooo no problem😎

if i was selling it.then the people at universal might want to have a chat with me
 
My whole issue is, and I think I'm with the majority (maybe not here, but in general) - I don't use aftermarket decks. I build a system around the stock electronics in my vehicle. I have navigation. The only way I'm going to get HD is when I get a new vehicle in a few years...

You know how you can GET XM or Sirius in your car? They sell something that you can just kinda hook it up? Do you think they'll have something like that for HD? If so... When? That's the big question. HD radio isn't even a thought (yet) in most people's minds...

I have a sirius satelite that is seperate from my car radio. it beam a signal to my radio so I can get it. the only set back is that it only comes in mono. if I had it hardwired to my radio, i could get it in stereo. I dont have anymore availible jacks on my radio because everything is taken up (eq, amps, dvd player) and if I splice it anymore, I will probably lost a lot more sound.

but hd has its good points. it gives you a crispier sound, cd quality and AM comes in as if it were on FM.

I'm listening to this right now - I am enjoying it! I wish that one of the satellite companies would pick this up rather than HD radio - from the little I looked into HD radio it is really localized. As I am not located in the NY area (well, other than this weekend while I am visiting) I wouldn't be able to get this even if it was on HD radio. I am not really impressed with Sirius dance though, so I would doubt they would pick it up, which sucks.

I'll have to listen to this at home on my desktop speakers to try out the quality. If he ends up putting mixes on it that would be fabulous!
