😱 The Cover Girls or The Other Girls?
To those unaware, for the past five years, La’ Entertainment has become one of the most active artist booking agencies in the Freestyle/Dance market. Covering the entire country as well as Canada and Mexico. Our artists roster is vast, handling the talents of such greats as Lil’ Suzy, Lisa Lisa, Doug E. Fresh, Lissette Melendez, Angel (The Original Cover Girl) and many many others, (please log on to: www.La-Entertainment.com for a look at our complete roster). Among our management roster are two primary artist, Lil’ Suzy and Angel (The Original Cover Girl). This post is to try to briefly clarify any misconceptions the Freestyle/dance market might have about Angel and The Cover Girls. First and foremost it is very important that I make this statement “Angel, The Original Cover Girl, has always, is now, and will always perform. For as long as she likes and as long as she is still accepted by her fans, she will work. Since joining the La’Entertainment family in September of 2002, Angel’s hard work along with that of our staff has this year alone booked her 47 performances, 20% of them being repeat business. To enlighten you a bit on Angel’s role in the establishment of The Cover Girls. Angel is the “Original Voice and Face” of such treasures as “Because Of You”, Inside Outside”, My Heart Skips A Beat”, Promise Me”, We Can’t Go Wrong”, All That Glitters Isn’t Gold” and of course The Cover Girl anthem itself “Show Me”. Probably the most distinctive voice in the market, people have often referred to her as “THE Cover Girl”. Disagreements with past management has over and over sent Angel on her own, continuing to make a living perform the music she worked so hard to record and promote. Upon signing with La’ Entertainment, a meeting with past management who claims to “have the rights to the name Cover Girls. (Note: this is just a claim, and since a trade market search is really expensive, no one cares enough to check if the said claimant truly has the rights to this name. I wonder what Cover Girl Magazine and Cover Girl Make-Up feels about this?) Anyhow, La’ Entertainment and past management failed to agree on anything and both parties went their own way. Angel continued to work under various billings such as; Angel, The Original Cover Girl, Angel Formerly of The Cover Girls, Angel, Former Lead Singer Of The Cover Girls, Angel’s Tribute To The Cove Girls etc. Unfortunately past management would do everything possible to keep Angel performing regardless of the title used (note; The law says as long as it is a fact, it can be stated.) A few promoters fell to the threat of false lawsuit by past management, the majority didn’t care and even laughed at the situation. La’ Entertainment does everything they can to clarify and educate their promoters on the business. Past management had no other choice but to throw together another three girls and promote them as the Cover Girls. This was an unfortunate due to the fact that the only one to truly suffer from all of this would be Angel herself. Even though her performance schedule was kept busy, it still hurt her to find out that three strangers were benefiting from her years of hard work and loyalty to her fans. These girls have been known to perform by lip-syncing over Angel’s original vocals, where are the morals? The main reason for this post is to clarify the fact that when the group The Cover Girls are said to be performing somewhere, please be advised that it will not include Angel. Many promotional campaigns around the country have been spotted using Angel’s photo to promote Cover Girl shows. One promoter told us that he had to use her picture or else no one would attend. If anyone is unsure of a performance regarding Angel and The Cover Girls please feel free to call us direct at 718-893-7179, we would be more than glad to tell you whether it is an Angel Show or a Cover Girl show. New promoters might question as to whether or not Angel alone would pull a draw, or are the fans just interested in paying to see three girls sing kareoke on stage. We would truly appreciate your response to this matter. This is very important and affecting someone who we have all grown to love and respect, Angel.
On behalf of Angel, The Original Cover Girl and La’ Entertainment, We Thank You. God Bless.
