Expose not Corina has alltime top freestyle song!

Expose's "Let Me Be The One" was no#5 on the Billboard hot 100 singles chart ne notch above Corina's "Temptation" no#6 on the Hot 100 charts. Also I believe Expose "Point Of No Return" was a top 5 song so Expose not Corina had the highest charting Freestyle songs ever!GOD Bless,P1 :cool

Expose's "Let Me Be The One" wasnt FREESTYLE!

I've always considered "Let Me Be The One" freestyle. (Down tempo freestyle with an r&b flavor). 🙂

It's a soft song sung by a freestyle group, that's all. It's not freestyle no way in my opinion. If it were sung by Salt N Pepa, for example, would it still be freestyle to you? LOL

without mentioning any specific names, it was a very famous artist's brother. the artist had a huge "love song" and i had bought it up to him and he said "no way, now how".

But.....think about this.....LL COOL J's "I need love". It's a "slow jam" but it has "rapping" in it, but slower. Is it still considered a "love" song or a "rap" song?

TEMPTATION WAS THE HIGHEST

Check out this link>>http://www.joebells.com/boricua/artists/corina.htm
That's just on of them. I'm sure anyone can remember that Temptation was played so much the turntables are still smokin, i just say too bad it wasn't "Out Of Control"...now that's Freestyle!!
As for "let me be the one"....nah NOT.I know this as a fact because "light" stations the kind you hear at the doctor's office play it. But it's still great work and when I hear it I still do think Freestyle due the time period and who the performers were.
:blah to all who oppose

Tough to answer. If Salt N Pepa did it, it might have more of a hip hop sound, so I don't know. I can say that because it's sung by a group that does freestyle, it pushes me more to consider it freestyle. Another thing is in 15 years since the song came out, I've never gave thought to it not being freestyle. And one last thought is I've always mixed it with the slower freestyle jams and it's right in the crate amongst freestyle.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd be up for pondering, discussing and ultimately being persuaded that it's not freestyle. 🙂

I'd say it could be considered part of either genre.

Yo dudes... I just threw it on & I'm stickin' to my original story... "Let Me Be The One" = freestyle 🙂

ok, if we say "let me be the one" can be FREESTYLE, then we also have to include SAFIRE's "thinking of u", TIMMY T'S "one more try", LISA LISA's "all cried out" & EXPOSE's "seasons change" as FREESTYLE.

No way, those are love songs, call them freestyle ballads or freestyle love songs if you want, but they're not in the same category as "Let Me Be The One".

We can argue on this from today until 2004!!! LOL Let Me Be The One by Expose has been played on Judy Torres' freestyle-free-for-all show. Bu then again, she played This Is Acid by Maurice this past Sunday, and even said she knows it's not really a freestyle song but people love it. So I guess when it comes down to it, it's all a matter of opinion. Not every song by a freestyle artist is even a freestyle song!!! For example, there are some songs on George LaMond's Bad of the Heart album that really arent freestyle. Well, that's MY opinion! LOL

Let me be the one is a slower tempo freestyle song.If you speed up the beat it would sound like any other freestyle song. However the highest charting freestyle song is let the music play by Shannon. And for those who wrongly argue that its not freestyle then think about this before you do: roses are red by Maribel uses the exact beat and synth sound and everyone considers that song freestyle. It is what it is so lets not try to split hairs for the sake of being a know it all.

its also like when people consider information society new wave and not freestyle...

I noticed that too along with Taylor Dayne. These artists are not getting their proper place in Freestyle History. You should check out a new magazine call Groove they have and interview with Paul from Info Society.Groove is a freestyle magazine from what I saw.As for Taylor Dayne she had one of the most intense and classic sounding freestyle songs ever "tell it to my heart".That is one fo the first songs that turm me on to freestyle it was in a mix tape along with silent morning and love letters. The good days!!
