Let's be realistic....who has the money to fund a billboard ad....If you wanna pay $25,000 for a one month ad to put up let's say TKA then go ahead....radio station ads are not the problem...why the hell are we talikng about radio station ads when them niggas don't play our music in regular rotation....why would I promote a radio station that's not truly behind me and my music 100%
 
I think Smoothies point was No Freestyle artist has major backing to afford them billboard ads on Subways and no amount of calling is going to get them that the industry as I have said so many times is so watered down image comes first before talent and a lot fo artist dont haev the image these execs look for. I was reading an article and he questioned where all the real musicians had gone that now all these lables are run by money hungry exes and not people whos soul intent is to make good music. I hear what you trying to say but it aint that easy a lot of the artist that could make some serious noise are no longer in the game and the present state of it doenst have enough artist to knock that door down or bridge the gap. I originally posted this thread to shine some light on the fact that a lot of thigns come into play to make noise and there isnt any real support out there for these artist and nott one fan is gonna do for an artist what they need to do for themselves you cant call a record exec from a major label and ask him to sign so and so when that artist has not taken it upon himself to be known and even then they would pick them apart and make them wat they wanted them to be. The industry sucks you either have to sell out some of yuor FS roots or change it totally in order to get any kind of feedback it all boils down to money money backing the artist and in order to get that money label has to want to want wat you got and thats on teh artist to sell themselves to a label. Only then can a fan make any noise on there behalf till then its buying the cds

see that is the thing, when artists tried to do something different they got torn to shreds..TKA, SAFIRE, and myself included..we didn't want to keep it the same either, we wanted to make it different and in this same site it was torned to shreds, so fight to keep it alive for what? the ones who still perform is cuse they like it, they want to, not because they are looking to get paid, as some have said... I understand everyones frustration, but the truth is the truth, look at this thread for example, all the bickering back and forth and nothing has been accomplished..and if we did agree on one thing, which was to make a difference, it won't happen over night, and many don't have patience to wait which is why alot of shitty freestyle came out, cause no time was taken to nurture it.

this is not about promoting the radio stations it about promoting our music and i beg to differ the artist featured on thos hot 97 ads do not pay to be on there. the radio station pays for it. no one is excecting anyone to come with $ to be featured on a ad. as i read the responses below i say to myself once again that if the very people who love the music don't have any faith in its future then what is the point? you people are bashing your own music. the music industry is loaded with people who don't think very much about freestlye and its pretty clear that some its fans feel the same way too. thats too bad.

I understand what you are saying Payac.

It's like the tv ads you see for Z100, that have Jessica Simpson, Brittney Spears, Usher, and whoever else talking about the station, while music videos play in the background.

The billboards for hot 97 (which I haven't seen) may have Puff Daddy or 'Lil Kim on them.

The fact of the matter is, KTU is a "dance" station, and dance music has almost always been faceless. Here are the top dance songs on KTU now...

fact of the matter is, KTU is not gonna put up a billboard with people who won't get recognized. That includes freestyle artists. They would put pictures of people who had dance music out that were recognizeable. You'd see Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson and Deborah Cox (because of their remix hits).

You would never see a ktu billboard with Johnny O., Safire, Cynthia or Coro on it.
 
good points chuck. just trying to brainstorm on what we can to make some progress instead of dis'ing each other here. maybe my suggestions are a bit out there but at least im willing to do something to help freestlye instead of just commit it to the '"archives of time"........

Because smoothie myself and others have stated it takes money to have artist on billboards bashing , bashing is when you come up in here saying FS sucks the music sucks the artist sucks at no point has anyone said that you just had an artist with much respect whos traveled all over has had hits full length album known when her name is mentioned come into this thread and break it down to you the same way we just did. It takes money record labels pay to have these billboards up why would a radio station promote somoeones upcoming album for free how do you think they mantain there station pay there employees it takes money if one of these FS artist had that kind fo backing they could perhaps make it but as a whole it takes money money and noone is bashing merely stating the facts as they know it to be Msrs, Nyasia just wrote it out.
 
Well I pledge that with My Mega Milions winnings I will open a Label and buy controlling interest in clearchannel stocks and stick Top Notch Freestyle Tracks in rotation everywhere! The best of the best to stand up against production of Top Pop Hip Hop and R & B Labels.. We must come correct.

You keep sayign the same thing and everyoen is giving you the same responce peopel who been in the industry had albums out, NOONE IS BASHING FS but most of us have realkized ther isnt a market for it there arent enough artist to make noise. Laels wont sign artist that dont look the part there into teeny bopper artist who can not sing. There have been several artist who pushed and pusehd and those same artist got tired of the politican behind the doors and moved on there arent enough real good artist out there who could open the door in a big way for FS not unless they watered it down and made it more pop. As for Nyasia dont get shit twisted she has her album coming out and just as TKA, Safire and tons of other artist people will have somethign to say . There is no such thing as cliques here there is a big family ebcause noone is chanting in your views and attempts at ideas you think people are forming opinions against you btu you jsut said you dont give a rats ass. You say the same thing over again why dont you put up the money for your artist of choice and push soem doors down hell send a press kit of yuor fav artist to mottola, diddy, etc etc because that is the only way you are gonna get anything rolling. We support as best as we can we have no control over what stations play jsut about every dayum member here calls KTU jsut about every dayum member has gone to tons of shows shit I knwo I attended every dayum show up untill I had my son buoght and kept in touch with my fav artist and watever new ventrures they delved into. Just for your info, in recent years, Nya has had new songs out. "If I Could See You Now" on ELI Records, and "True Love" on the Freesyle Parade 2k1 two cd set on Artistik.

I have copies of both.

She's also got a new song "Love & Harmony" on the Banging Beats, Vol. 2.
