Wow it totally veered away from what I was saying but hey everyoen is entitled to express there feelings so let me see if I can respond to soem things and rememebr people no need to bite each others heads off and rememebr we cant force what we believe or feel onto anyone just express as best as we can.

Ok Caleb your right when you said artist have the choice to perform or not to perform there is no doubt about that but you also mentioned all headliners get paid but I can deff say for the KTU Beatstock Concert the Freestyle artist DO NOT get paid for doing that show weather or not they get paid for any other major show for that station I cant confirm fo sho but for the Beatstock show they do not which to me is pretty fuked up considering its one if not there biggest shows and the reason most of the people attend the show to begin with. I mena how are you not goign to pay an artist for performing and putting money in your pocket how is that supporting an artist.

Honestly I dont think Freestyle will ever be put on reg rotation no matter how many times people want to pick up a phone and request a song, there arent enough artist performing or releasing good material to be put on reg rotation and a lot of the great artist have retired. I mean I here people say well do this and that and the sogn will get played and to me honestly it takes a lot more then just a good song to get play the demands of the industry require a lot more then just a good song and nto to many people take that into account selling something to anyone requires a visual image to entice and get you to buy what you hear meaning more often then not you got to look a certain way to get anyone to notice what you have and more often then not the look will sell more then the actual talent. When these stations play the music there in part selling this artist one of the many outlets that represent an artist so they arent going to just play anything if there going to sell you they expect to make a profit off of it. Which is why you see a lot of artist with no real talent "I wont mention any names" whos records get reg spins on the radio. Freestyle artist dont have the proper marketing tools or go about it the wrong way it isnt jsut a good song you got to sell its the voice singin the song the person behind the voice etc etc. So again I dont think Freesetyle will ever get reg rotation on mainstream because of how the industry is run and because there isnt enough talent to sustain it in main stream calling a radio staion to me personally doesnt do much because its getting played 1-2 hours on a mix on the late night and the stuff they do play is stuff thats old which in reality doesnt help new school artist coming up because people are use to the old school its what they have listened to so when they try to give them somethign new they dont easily accept it I know I am picking as hell and its not cause I am comparing it to the old school. I agree with a lot of what Tae had to say he kept it real and funky. It is easier to get support overseas then it is here because they arent as judgemental and ar more open to different things as opposed to here. A lot of artist break big overseas before they do here and sometimes they never do here. Not to soudn liek a broken record but to appeal to major labels you got to look the part or come with it with the vocals.

"FLY TETAS" by Jose Cheena :blah

No jodon that is not what I am saying because as long as the genre has fans the music wont die. What people fail to realize is that the majority of the artist who do Freestlye do it for the love of it and for the fans not for the next big pay day. I wouldnt in any way put anything anyone is doign for the Genre down or take away form them there hard work cause take Ashley for example this woman is one of the if not the hardest working artist I know in new school and despite knowing how the market is here in teh states she give it her all since meeting her and seeing her do her thign I have always praised her dedication. She came into this thread took it for what it was (in NO WAY dissing freestyle) because she knows what its really like to pave the payment for listeners, what it is to put her hard earned money into making thigns happen and not once does she bitch or moan about the lack of support or what fans should or shouldnt do the women is a trooper.

People will come into this thread and say is a diss to FS, how can we say we are fans, how can we say we support the music blah blah blah but the truth of the matter is that we support understanding that there isnt a market out there for our music because the industry is so watered down. I think more often then not people take the truth as dissing teh music when it aint even liek that some of us just have accepted how the industry is and realized that when the pioneers couldnt knock down them doors and re-establish a name in main stream that it wasnt gonna happen. SOme of my dearest friends are FS artist hell my best friend is a FS artist so cant noone tell me I dont support or that I in any way am dissing the genre cause I have had this conversation with many of them more then once.

Everyone supports in there own way everyone isnt going to like whats out there or coming out but it doesnt make them any less of a supporter.

I agree...and for the record some of the Artist do get thier hands dirty and write thier own songs..I myself wrote "I feel" and countless other songs that would have come out in 94 if it wasn't for the record label. I support Freestyle, I have always supported, Ashely, Ayna, Nu Image, and countless others, Chirstina Marie who is in Cali, love her album, but the truth is that alot of what I hear now really does no justice to the genre plain and simple. the only artist that i have seen go up there with Dancers is AYna..(and I am talking about here in NYC) it's great that people are still trying to keep it alive.but you know what we are seperating it ourselves by labeling it New school and old school, if we ourselves can't stop that bullshit segregation how can we expect anyone to take it seriously..this is the only thing I will say about this, because some peeps don't handle opinions good, or it gets copied and pasted onto other sites..lolol enjoy the debate peeps..
adn Angie once again I agree with you. I also agree with ASHLEY putting herself out there to get her songs heard, hard work.

I say keep the Planet Rock beat, F#%K what people say, if the song is good it's good.I respect all Freestyle, but the one's showing support the most on CF are the one's who always put their favorite in the Top 10,because it proves that they are buying cd's and you can tell by the new artists songs they put on there.Sad, but very few do this, plus the so-called Freestyle artists themselves dont do this-because they don'y buy Freestyle cd's or expect people to give it to them, the radio/DJ's too expect things for free,is that support?, NO.How many Freestyle cd's have you baught in 2005?????Many of you will say 1 or 0.
of the more recent Freestyle releases that I baught
ZOE-"Innocent"
2 copies of AYNA's new cd.
5 copies of ASHLEY maxi-single.
POZE cd
ALVENDIA cd
ARTISTIK Style!DAnce cd
SHARYN MACEREN-"Remixes"
2 copies of AYNA-"FREE"
FREEZE-cd
NICK COLON-cd
NU IMAGE cd
unsure of other cd's I baught.
I'm very picky now with the cd's I buy, although I do love all the more recent ones I baught, except Alvendia's which was barely ok cd-It just seems like eveyone & their mama is coming out with a release and so far out of the new one's coming out in late 2005, only a few I'm exited about......
NU IMAGE-2nd cd
MANNY
LISCYN
LIL'SUZY
BETTY DEE

Going to shows, does show support, but for old school artists-who have a hard time releasing new stuff, you help them pay their bills-which is a good thing. Not all artists get to play shows all over the world, it's hard to get all your favorite shows in your town or a near by town.

Gotta love the "Bandwagon" comments! :lol :lol

LMAOOOOOOOOOO @ Javier! Lord man you had me in tears!

I'm in New Orleans so can't rightly support by goin to all the shows but lord I've made some trips to NY over the last few years to do this. Right now it's not feasible for me but I'm still buyin my cd's! 😀

Ummmm Nuff said!

Yup, I definitly support Freestyle all around and give it much respect.Definitly support artists who's Freestyle moves me the most.Looking forward to your cd in the future Ashley. :switch

I myself really don't listen to a Regular Radio Station only cause they don't play Freestyle in my area,.. But I do Listen to Internet Radio cause they do just that Play Freestyle Music,. there are so many Great stations out there with differnent variety,. as far as the artists not getting paid for there shows well daz just a dayum shame. I would have to say personally I support the music first then the artist,. I'll explain why If i like the music then I will go out and purchased the CD's and so forth so I'm still supporting the Artist as well,. I also try my best to put out more info for the artist and where & how to purchase the Music as well for others to know about it.

It's because of the site we have around that are dedicated to keeping Freestyle Music Alive that we are able to get the Music We Love,.. with that being said if it wasn't for that I would have never known of the many new artist that are coming out only because it's not mainstream so you never hear about it on Radio or the New Especially in my Local Area. So Viva La Freestyle.
