Gornicevo,
I agree "Gotta get thru this" does have a freestyle like vibe to it, but it's U.K. garage/2-step music, but in a way I kind of wonder if the English got the idea for that style of music from freestyle. I know freestyle never really took off in the U.K. but i figure 2-step/garage could have been a hybrid of freestyle so that it could suite the different taste's of the U.K. audience?..? 🙂

Just to build on the possibility that 2-Step garage might be like a U.K. version of freestyle if you ever listen to hit's like "Kiss the sunshine" or "I can't wait" (re-make) by Ladies First, or some of Artful Dodger's hit's you can almost hear a slight resemblence.

"welcome to the space jam, here's your chance, do your dance, welcome to the space jam" 😉

oh ya superfly the janet song does sound like freestyle! a dj here did a freestyle mix of someone to call my lover at a concert.

if it sounds like freestyle.....it must be

A lot of people credit Nayobe with being the first freestyle artist....however, Madonna, of all people, may have been the first artist to record a freestyle song. She recorded the songs "Borderline", and "Lucky Star" in 1982, and in 85 she did "Get Into The Groove". Then in 86 she did "Open Your Heart" and "Where's The Party". These songs clearly fit the category

Here's another "People are people" by Depeche Mode. If you listen closely it's got a freestyle vibe written all over it.

FreestylerInNy, i would definetly put TAYLOR DAYNE in the "freestyle sound" catagory. her stuff was great, more danceble than Pebbles. dont take me wrong, i love pebbles, but having a freestyle sound is something i dont find with her. (Yo, RHOQ......did ya know that "PEBBLES" is CAPTAIN LOU ALBANO'S NEICE? Theres a bit of wrestling history i bet ya didnt know!! and he has a nephew right here in MASSAPEQUA, who happens to be me and DJ JIGGLY'S best friend since high school!)

Here's another one that just might sneak into the freestyle catergory: "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley

yeah I understand Kenny but i listen to those 2 pebbles songs and i think of freestyle, I mean to me it does have the vibe. Oh and CompanyB thanx again, I got the cd and i'm real happy, love it soooooo much LoL. I don't think Rick Astley sounds at all like freestyle though. Now Madonna maybe a little especially with "Into the Groove" but I don't know about Borderline and Lucky Star. I would also say that "Pleasure Principle" by Janet has that sound to it too. Oh and does anyone remember that song "Dr Beat" by Miami Sound Machine, it has a kinda freestyle sound to it too. Ok layta people.

You're right Kenny, I did not know that, but I do know that Pebbles is one fine piece of ass!!!

Freein the Style!!!!!!

I was wondering if anyone ever thought of the group NO MERCY as freestyle with their song "Where do You Go" also I believe that Information Society are a freestyle group although someone at my job, HMV, said they were not and that neither was Debbie Deb, I think that is a crock of sh*t but hey that's me let me know what you guys think.:wave

Information Society is actually a New Wave group....they just had songs that fit into freestyle. Just wondering: I was listening to a greatest hits CD by the Jets(remember them?). Crush On You sounds like it could be freestyle as well as Cross My Broken Heart.

yeah Debbie Deb is freestyle definately, people just don't know what they're talking about. I loved "Summer Girls" by Dino that was a hot a jam and I still think that "Don't You Want Me" remix from Jody Watley is mad freestyle too. I mean the beat in that song is HOTT!!!

:nahnah

How about "Domino Dancing" by Pet Shop Boys? Even though they aren't freestyle, I always thought this particular song was. It even had a little bit of a Latin element to it.

Pretty Poison's album had some pretty nice Freestyle tunes too.

Besides "Catch Me (Im Falling)", it had "Nightime", "When I Look Into Your Eyes", & others.

Remember "Object Of My Desire" by Starpoint?? That waz da JAM!!

Or "Buffalo Stance" & "Kisses On The Wind" by Neneh Cherry?? ...by the way, ....where is she??

I Think that if "Funk Boutique" by da Cover Girls, & stuff by Two Without Hats can be considered Freestyle, ...so can "Buffalo Stance".

Hmmm..... lemme think of some more... lol
