Now we have bigger problems. The Kings of Freestyle are by there own claim not even a freestyle group. Never were. That's like going out with a girl for 4 years and she leaves you and then says that y'all was never even together like that. Freestyle is clearly not wanted anymore. It's over. It was all our imagination that it ever even existed.
 
I can't believe people think Who's that Girl and Borderline is freestyle!!! You know what, then that means the Monkees Theme was freestyle too! LOL!!!

i know that tka is known for and have been hailed as kings to this art form .i thank you though i've always been uncomfortable with that title in the past and even currently .
my breakdown comes from the fact of whether it was embraced by everyone as freestyle songs like louder than love weren't supposed to be that and were never meant as freestyle .
also my point on this thread is that we are not free to style any thing but durring this time of home studios and mixtapes and self promotion freesstyle can recreate itself beyond its boundaries if we take its concept to the next level.
at times i feel like the lone person who understands that living within confines limits you to be just one certain thing

real quick though "you don't feel it was produced by edwin ramos a member of cf ask him what he thought the song was when he made the beat as song writer though i felt it was a freestyle song.i wrote that before tka got back together again so it was meant from me as a come back freestyle record from my part.
as for "in a manner" pick up depeche mode records and tell me if you her that to be freestyle all i did was do my best imitation of david grohl [lead singer of depeche]and the beat is the same.
as for you boyfreind girlfriend thing there is not doubt that tka was a freestyle group period but all there songs were not freestyle .were they embraced by all of you guys yes and for that i am grateful .

I'm not against change and evolution, however I do feel that if changes are gonna be made they should be in the right direction or not be made at all because change in the wrong direction is much worse than no change at all. I've always felt that freestyle music is a lost aspect of hip hop. The reason why there are so many out there (including a lot of "freestyle fans") who don't acknowlege freestyle's direct hip hop roots is because many of the artists (especially the more popular ones) have distanced themselves so much from that aspect. There's nothing hip hop about albums full of pop and slow jams and pop house. There's a reason why the K7 solo album was more successful than any TKA album and that's because everything about it was so street and hip hop culture (at the time being hip hop actually meant something). The non-freestyle songs were still street and the average young person could relate. The freestyle songs were straight bangers, true freestyle. No one had to question whether or not they were freestyle. The videos were so raw with everyone rockin' the freshest hip hop gear. I remember a few years back seeing a video of K7 singing over Noreaga's "I'm Leaving" beat. I would be proud to call that freestyle. But when most of the non-freestyle from people who are known as freestyle artists winds up being something pop/r&b or soft house it makes freestyle look bad, especially on the streets and that's why people don't give freestyle attention anymore. That's the whole problem right there. If freestyle actually put up the street persona that it would be musically/technically justified in doing so, there would be a lot more freestyle heads out there.

DISCO relied heavily on the "love" theme as does FREESTYLE.

I dont see FREESTYLE coming from HIP HOP because RAP, for a good 5 or 6 years, only preached & bragged about "having good times" and "whos the better emcee".

FREESTYLE had none of those elements so I dont see how FREESTYLE evolved from HIP HOP, from that point of perspective.

it's true. I speak to plenty of people that dont go to the shows, dont go on the net to look for info on freestyle. you know, just regular 9-5ers, sometimes working 2 jobs, a kid or 2, a home. average people that loved FREESTYLE back in the day as much as we but they tell me over and over again that its "OLD" and nothing is coming out on the radio.

Have you ever heard the extended version of the single version? I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Songs like "Domino Dancing", "Naughty Girls" were freestyle but back then but was considered Latin Pop or Latin Hip-hop. Look at India's song "The lover that rocks you all night", that appears on Freestyle comps and is totally not Freestyle. That is house. I am not saying Madonna or those other artists are Freestyle whatsoever but since this sound was big at the time, artists were trying to cash in. The Pet Shop Boys went to Lewis A. Martinee because they wanted to do something that was happening big in the US, that being Expose. In 1990 TKA and Stevie B. were trying to going to a different sound by releasing "I won't give up on you" and "Love and Emotion". I don't consider "I won't give up on you" to be Freestyle at all. There will always be a debate about what is and what isn't. It makes it very interesting on the board to say the least....lol.

Bro, I was a HUGE madonna freak back in the day. bought all the albums, 45's, posters.....you name it. but that lasted a year!

an "extended" version doesnt mean anything. AEROSMITH can release an extended version with some dance beats but it wont make the artist A DANCE ARTIST, now does it? 🙂

LMAO....well, I am saying that both versions are Freestyle. I don't even know why I wrote that. lol. I just remember reading something back in 1987 in Billboard about the Latin Pop explosion and Who's that girl was mentioned. Other artists, such as the Cover Girls, Expose, Cyre, Sweet Sensation, TKA, Stevie B were listed as well. It was the June 19, 1987 publication.
 
Whats about Blondie? She recorded "In Love With Love"..... is that freestyle? She is not a freestyle artist....

they could have used the same equiptment but lets compare RUN DMC's "ROCK BOX" to let says "i wont stop loving you" by C-BANK. 2 totally different songs but obviously no relation to each other whatsoever.

using the same equipment doesnt mean they have to sound the same or come from the same origin.
