skoza said:Honestly, I just bought two of the Bad boy Joes freestyle megamixes, I liked them for the most part, but I listenend to both a couple of times because there are songs that I liked on them, but there were songs that should never have been on those CD's or radio for that matter. So when the record executives here the quality of music that comes out of freestyle land , it's probablty waste of time to them. You have to have quality in the music, vocals etc etc. That's what I think the downfall of freestyle was, too many band songs that should never have made it to the radio. That gave freestyle a bad taste in the mouth for non-freestyle fans. Sorry if that offends anybody.
This just goes to show that there's diff'rent strokes 4 diff'rent folks....I would like to hear the cf peeps' opinions on what exactly constitutes a good freestyle song...I agree with skoza about the fact that some, well a lot of freestyle songs out there that I have listened to, and it made me want to sue the singer for noise pollution, LOL!!! But seriously, back to the original question: What makes a freestyle song good? Is it the beats? The voice singing the song? Or how about relating to it? I'll throw down some examples: In my opinion, I don't think Soave is a great singer....but I'll be damned if "Crying Over You" isn't one of the BEST freestyle songs ever!!!...Or how about "Mirage" by India?....If any of you know what in blazes she is saying, then God Bless You, lol, cuz I'm still trying to figure it out...Can't relate to what she's saying, but it's a danceable track. You see what I'm saying? Also, could the formula that brought freestyle into the mainstream work in 2004? What mistakes would have to be avoided? I would like to hear from fans and artists on this.
