My short two cents is this. If radio staions or the big Record labels wanted to spend money to market freestyle, that would be the only way freestyle would make it. Honestly, I just bought two of the Bad boy Joes freestyle megamixes, I liked them for the most part, but I listenend to both a couple of times because there are songs that I liked on them, but there were songs that should never have been on those CD's or radio for that matter. So when the record executives here the quality of music that comes out of freestyle land , it's probablty waste of time to them. You have to have quality in the music, vocals etc etc. That's what I think the downfall of freestyle was, too many band songs that should never have made it to the radio. That gave freestyle a bad taste in the mouth for non-freestyle fans. Sorry if that offends anybody.
Believe me, I love freestyle music, but quality has to come with it before I support it. Just supporting it simply because its freestyle will do more damage than good.

Freestyle will live forever. As long as the true fans support it, it will live. The same with Punk, it will never sell records like Wacko Jacko, but the music is still around because the fans continue to support it!!
Big plug, Angelinas new album sounds great. Pick it up!!😉
I'm right there with you again, Exotica. freestyle will NOT die because with each generation, someone is picking up the old and listening to it as if it were new. Like your friend's daughter and my sisters, they are the ones who listen to it, then their friends, then so on and so on. One of my sisters asked if she could borrow one of my boyfriend's freestyle CDs for a "radio project" they were doing in class. She took the CD and played it as part of her Radio show for her music class.
The biggest problem we have here in the DC metro area is that we only get the old freestyle music. You go to Tower records here, and it's nothing, the newest things we get regarding freestyle is now from Tony Monaco. On the other hand, the last time I went to NYC, it was ALL there, the new and the old...If we are to promote and support, how are we to when we have to streams to pick it up from?
Dang it, I'm actually playin' Amante's joint "LGIO" right now. just brings memories around the time that song came out I was on my way heading to Club Rio like in the boon docks, lol, and to backdraft's, while listening to that song on the BQE. Hope u do have a proj. here or there Amante. peaceouttie,
MY 2 CENTS. Bottom line is too many people out there are not true supporters and I speak from experience. I had a 100% Freestyle based internet mail order business. I bought and sold a few records and CD's in my time as I am sure you all know. In my experiences dealing with people who CLAIM to support freestyle I have discovered a few things. 1)The number one question I get is where can I get an MP3 of that 2)The number 2 question I get is can you make me a tape or CD? 3)The third question I get is where can I buy it. This tells me ONE things. 2/3 of the people who claim to support freestyle really want a freebie. If more people like Anthony A, francis, Steve, Grafpix, and many others would be true supporters and buy the music then it would still be around. Another thing people might not want to hear is that Freestyle is still alive on the underground level but it isn't very good. There are a few good young producers out there but I would be willing to bet they will not be around much longer because they will feel the same way as the producers who went on to do bigger and better things in order to make a living. Bottom line is producers and singers need our support because for alot of them this is the way the try to make a living. For others it is in fun and true love of the music. Thats why you see those who truly love the music still around and those who want to make a living jump ship. If you so called fans really want the new producers and singers to remain around for awhile then pull out your wallets and open up your purse strings and buy the ORIGINAL Cd's or 12's that these wonderful hardworking people release. If you want to contribute to the destruction of Freestyle then goto napster, Morpheus and kazaa and download all your favorite freestyle tracks and keep listening until you are like 80 years old because you are continuing the assault on the music industry as we know it. Hip Hop, R&B and other Styles of music can survive because they have bigtime distibution, radio play and video's out th ying yang meanwhile the only exposure Freestyle gets is underground parties, Clubs and a few tracks are lucky to make it to the radio. problem with the songs making it to the radio are mostly the ones that we have already heard like 5,000 times and were released in the late 80's and early 90's. Again I stress the fact that you need to show your support, Buy the merchandise, call the radio stations, goto clubs and support you favorite artists because to be honest with you there is no experience like meeting your favorite artists and producers. I was lucky enough to discover the internet in the mid 80's which led me to meet Artie. I had a website which I posted my favorite alltime songs. Artie came accross my website and invited me to NYC for a record release party. I met up with him at club Amazura where Artie intoduced me to Willie Valentin, Michael Anthony Bertot, Chrissey Ieece, Legit, etc..... Since then those people introduced me to other great artists and producers. I have been to a few of their homes and studios, I have been to numberous parties. I have attented the winter music conference and atlantic city and I have made friends with many of the people in the freestyle community. this is what its all about showing support will lead to rewards worth mare than a few bucks for CD's or records. I have made a lifetime of memories and I will never forget the wonderful times I have shared with so many wonderful people. Especially Willie and the whole Artistik family. You see would a huge star like Britney spears or madonna even give me the time of day? The answer is HELL no. So I show my support by supporting those who treat me as one of there own. I mean Wendy who i never even met has made drops for me. Personally I would like to thank her as well as anyone else who takes the time to help out her fans. I appreciate everything everyone out there has done for me.
Again show your support instead of complaining about the downfall of an industry which you never spent a dollor on. The honest truth is DJ's make more money bootlegging than a Freestyle artist or a producr makes these days. mainly because most of the newer DJ's just mix on a computer with .wav files in which they never even payed for but download from napster which is truly sad.
another true fact which i will not even get into is people releasing stuff that really is terrible but I won't name any names because at least they are trying so they have my respect because they at least tried which is more than I can say for about 80% of the complainers out there.
Sorry if i hurt any feeling out there but all you perp's out there know who you are. Feel free to call me anytime.
Ashley I also want to thank you for your help. I have nothing but love for you. Say hello to your husband for me. I wish you continued success and keep up the great Freestyle.
VinylDreams: "the people who claim to support freestyle really want a freebie. If more people like Anthony A, francis, Steve, Grafpix, and many others would be true supporters and buy the music then it would still be around."
I agree on every word you said accept this. The people you named there are collectors. They know where to get the stuff. But most people dont know where to go to get rare stuff. Even the new stuff that's out there doesnt have a regular market for them so can you blame the people that seek out alternative matters? Out of print items...do you think it's wrong if I bootleg an out of print item? I dont think so....taking into consideration that marketers wont be able to buy further similar items because of that simple fact.
