It's not up to the artist to promote it. Fine, they do "some" promoting but the bulk of the promotions is not done by the artist. Theyre job is to sing and perform. The record lable pays for the promotions.

AS AN AVID CLUB GOER AND ONE WHO DEALS WITH A LOT OF PROMOTERS ON A DAILY BASIS THE CLUBS ARE NOT TRYING TO HOST FREESTYLE EVENTS AND THE CLUBS THAT DO ARE THE REASON WHY ARTIST CONTINUE TO PERFORM AT THEM. WHY THEY WAIT YEARS AND YEARS TO TURN OUT A SINGLE BECAUSE OF THE FACT THE FREESTYLE INDUSTRY (FANS) ARE SO CRUTICAL AS TO WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR IS ONE. NOT TO MANY IF ANY BIG RECORD LABLES ARE WILLING TO SPEND MONEY ON A SINGLE, IF A SINGLE IS COMPLETED AND PUT ON THE MARKET AND SHOPPED TO DIFFERENT STATIONS HOW MANY STATIONS THAT NO LONGER PLAY FREESTYLE WILL PLAY THEM. WE HAVE ALMOST LOST THE ONE STATION HERE IN NYC THAT PLAYED FREESTYLE. HOW CAN YOU SELL AN ALBUM TO AN INDUSTRY THAT DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT. IF IT ISNT MAIN STREAM WHAT ARE THE CHANCES AND LETS FACE IT FREESTYLE IS NOT MAIN STREAM SO TO SELF PROMOTE IS TWICE AS HARD IF NOT EVEN HARDER TO DO FOR AN ARTIST. NOT TO MENTION A HANDFUL OF ARTIST WHO DO TRY AND SELF PROMOTE AND LOOSE WHAT MONEY THEY DO HAVE TRYING TO DO SO. FOR FREESTYLE IT TAKES A RECORD LABEL AND I WOULD SAY A BIG ONE TO PROMOTE IT CORRECTLY BUT AGAIN HOW MANY LABELS ARE TRYING TO PUT UP THE MONEY HOLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAA

that part of the process is up to the label
an artist can do what he can but when it comes down to it its the labels job to promote their artist
in the freestyle world a lot of labels did not do a good job at promoting individual artist instead they promoted compilations
therefore the artist would not have a fan base but the label would
so honestly it was like lets give this guy 100 bucks to sing this song and thanks bye.....thats just one example

You must work the switch board or the mailroom seeing as though your comments have no validity.. You obviously don't know a thing about the audience, Statistics, Marketing Etc.. From your comments one can conclude that you have had no business training in the field of music and certainly no hands on with the artist's themselves!! Simply stated your quite ignorant around these parts. There is only one station (KTU)that Plays Freestyle regularly... If you consider Sunday nights for an hour regular and an occasional song here and there!! Even they cut Judy Torres segment back a few hours some months ago. Why do you think that is.. I'll tell you.. The popularity factor amongst the mainstream.. The risk in loss of revenue another factor... The execs who consider it// or the lack of consideration and acknowlledgment to the Freestyle Artist/Community... How many freestyle sites are there? How many Stations play it? huh torresone??.. How can an artist strive to do more than a performance here and there if there music doesnt even have there own category.. How many times have we as consumers walked into a record store that had Freestyle in an aisle LOL Are you so ignorant that if you have seen a section for freestyle you didnt notice how VERY very Small it was. And 90% of the time there all mixed tracks and volumes and greatest hits..Basically they don't even stock it.. Think of this... Music stores don't carry it-Stations dont play it-Labels don't won't take the risk in revenue lossess- torressone since you are so educated on this subject.. Explain then why you blame the artist!! There are so many artist out there with beautiful voices/lyrics etc.. that work so hard and what is there reward and Idiot like you at a label.. If you even work at a label. Why don't you knock on your bosses door and ask him the statistics ask him if he/she will sign an artist and front the money for video production/labor/promotions etc... Then come back here and talk shit.. Ofcourse these artist wouldnt mind the added bonus of record deals every year.. Britney spears Status,,, but you know what.. How is that possible when they aren't even recognized.. and those that self promote and self title end up taking a loss rather than a gain..

u go girl sexangle329& destiny11 u girl are right freestyle was the shit back in the days and its still today .and to love me 69 girl not for nothing but you now that when you was growing up u wanted to be just like them i ant trying to hurt your feeling but come on lets be 4 real we all now as of freestyle fan as was when we was young and as we are still today freestyle is in our blood. shit when i was a little girl i wanted to become a freestyle singer lol its not easy for a freestlye singer to make it big we ant rich we are trying to live.......

DESTINY Just correcting you, KTU is not the only station that plays freestyle regular. Several Miami stations play freestyle regularly. Party 93.1 plays at least 20% freestyle (maybe more), and 102.something also plays freestyle now...... Mike would know more about that though.

Oh and Z103.5 in Toronto plays some freestyle songs, but I would say maybe one song per hour or two 🙂.

WBLI plays freestyle too, and holds shows which feature freestyle acts. not too long ago they had TKA on thier show, promoting thier new album.

PARTY 105 plays some freestyle too, but not much.

so, thats 3 stations in NY!
