*shivers* i think we just dug up a mine! lol *psst it's THEREO!!*

u tell em thereo!!!
so i completely agree with the house part...but r&b - not my thing.

It's an interesting topic, but for me I'm pretty shallow in knowledge when it comes to Euro Dance. I'd have to hear a few songs to make a fair comparison. All I can add is that new freestyle supposedly includes the crossing over of certain genres; trance, euro, etc. So, I'm guessing Euro Freestyle, as described by some here, can very well be considered new freestyle. However, as far as I'm concerned, old freestyle is quickly becoming a genre seperate to that of new freestyle in it's overall sound. West coast and Canadian freestyle took the genre to a different field. I'm too old school and stubborn in my views, so I won't add any negative opinons as to how I feel about the new sound of freestyle lol (not to say I don't like any of it, cause I do like some) 🙂

lmao lmao... 😀

THEREO what quote??? the eye candy one? or Rockells song?

BRAVO THERO, NO MALAKIAS WITH YOU...YOU DEFINATELY PUT MUCH THOUGHT INTO YOUR RESPONSE....VERY ELOQUENTLY PRESENTED....I REALIZE THAT EURO IS EURO AND I HAVE INSIGHT INTO THE ROOTS/ORIGINS OF EASTCOAST/WESTCOAST FREESTYLE BUT...MY ORIGINAL POST INQUIRES THAT MANY....NOT ALL EURO TRACKS, POSESS SIMILAR STYLE LYRICS AS MANY FREESTYLE SONGS....BUT NOW THAT WE'VE GIVEN THEM A FREESTYLE BEAT THAT IS COMMON TO THE OLD SKOOL SOUND DOES THAT NOW MAKE IT A FREESTYLE TRACK? UNLIKE THE FREESTYLE FRENZY ARGUMENT THIS ONE ISN'T BASED ON MONEY.....VIXEN/CHICA....THAT'S A BIG THING FOR ME TO SAY AS YOU KNOW....(AFTER THIS PAST WEEKEND AT LEAST!) BUT THAT'S WHY I'M PUTTING THIS THREAD OUT TO YOU GUYS BECAUSE YOU ARE THE INES THAT SHAP AND DEFINE OUR MUSIC (ASIDE FROM DJ'S) WAHT IS FREESTYLE NOW?
I'M NOT SAYING THAT IT EXTENDS TO EURO OR IS RESTRICTED TO STEVIE B, LIL SUZY, AND CYNTHIA.....NOT AT ALL....I GUESS THAT WHEN A EURO SONG IS REMIXED AND PUT ON A FREESTYLE COMP. THEN ITS NOW FREESTYLE AND ITS ACCEPTED BY THE MASSES!!!NUFF SAID SO THEN THIS "CROSS OVER STUFF (EURODANCE) IS NOW AS WE WOULD ACCEPT IT IN CANADA.....AS A PART OF THE FREESTYLE GENRE (WHEN REMIXED TO A POPULAR FREESTYLE BREAK BEAT)

ANTHONY WE'RE STILL WORKIN ON THIS ONE....I HOPE WE'RE NOT CONFUSING PERSONS LIKE YOURSELF THAT ARE NOT AS INSIGHTFUL TOO THE WHOLE EURO THING....THERE'S A LOT OF GOOD STUFF OUT THERE!!!CHECK IT OUT!

stop writing so much.. especially in CAPS.. sooo hard to read...also use an ENTER bar.. lol... lmao lmao..

sorry 😀

Ok kiddies here's Spyboy's 2 cents!

*Euro or various aspects of EURO are derived from the basic principles of *HIGH ENERGY* . High energy (as it was called back in the day) consisted of ludicrous amounts (not the rapper!) of BPM's.
With little or no vocals at all.

Some of the first BIG waves of Euro/High energy compilations that come to mind that started making the scene in Toronto are (dig in your closets for this one) The original Italo Party mix LP's/cassettes. Most people and dj's still consider this Euro<---derived from EUROPE being that 9 tenths of the copilation were primarily european with the odd american track thrown on.

Freestyle (the original stuff!) check the history books on this one originated from the good ole U S of A. No matter what background the singer/composer was from it made it big in the smaller club establishment of America.

Most freestyle singers/composers/producers will tell you that Freestyle is a 'niche' market and only pertains to a certain segment of the populous (population)and there is only so much money you can make off of singing freestyle. SO... this is why we are getting so much CROSSOVER music dipping into Euro/dance, Euro/Freestyle, Euro/Trance etc. etc. etc.

What you'll also notice is the same freestyle song (mainly more from Canadian singers, don't know why?) is that they'll MIX IT, RE-MIX IT, flip it over and MIX IT AGAIN, and come out with a slow dance version, high energy beat, or whatever funky name they choose to slap on the label depending what mood their in that day!

I say----> IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT.

How many good songs have been slaughtered because some person:crap decides to have an idea (usually a bad one) to make a remix of it to update it to a more modern version, that will try and compete with the current popular genre on todays rotation, and expect it to do well? (i.e Most of the High Power Production releases and that other Butcher by the name of ATTILA) who are "overnighters" trying to make a quick $$$ and scoot out the back door! AND what is the result when this happens, we are left with a bad taste in our mouths, $15 outta pocket for a worthless CD and a really bad impression of the Freestyle industry.

Yes there are the countless (read millions & millions) of debates of:
Old Skool vs. New School
Remix vs. Original
Chevy vs. Ford and blah blah blah

No 2 people will agree.

So to end it off (cause this is costing me more than 2 cents)
TO EACH HIS/HER OWN.

Enjoy what you like, not what your neighbour likes!
