Some good shite coming out in this thread. Lemme just reiterate something, the music is changing, all music has changed. It's changing to meet today's tastes. The rock, rap or r&b of today is not the same from say the 80's. Times have changed, and Freestyle is doing the same, it has evolved, and it has 'merged' with Euro (at least here in Canada). I personally like it, why because it's pretty much my two fave genres of music slapped together and it usually sounds great. Don't get me wrong, I love classic freestyle as well, but I just get more out of today's freestyle. Maybe if the pioneers of freestyle (Stevie, TKA, Cynthia, GL, etc) were to come out with some new classic freestyle things would be different, but we don't hear much from those artists and that leaves the new school kids to make some music, once again, I think they're doing a good job for the most part and I hope they continue. And just remember this, in a few years, freestyle will have evolved into something else as well, what? Who really knows.

PS: R&B and RAP blows bigtime, but sadly, that's what the market seems to love... 🙄
 
hey hey Eluder... R&B doesn't BLOW... that's something other than FREESTYLE and EURO that I can listen to... it's in my opinion the only music genre where people can show their vocal ability... RAP/HIP-HOP on the other hand.. does blow 😀

Even now Rap, R&B, and other forms of "Urban" music are evolving and merging with other music genres, to become a new one.
Music isn't really creative or distinct anymore.

For example, you have rap groups forming with rock groups = Limp Bizkit sound.

You have producers that have no creativity, and just sample old school retro/disco beats ------> Sean Puffy-Ding-dong Combs, and James Pappa smurf Dupruis (JD).

People who 'sample' really have no creative talent in Rap, those who can 'Freestyle' off the top of their heads (now thats a talent).

Take that new track by J.Lo and the LOX, their in trouble now from various production/studios for sampling beats from the "Beatnuts" and "KRS1". It takes no talent to steal beats, it takes talent to make beats that steal the scene!!!

in my opinion, yes! because even though its not an original, ITS BEEN MADE INTO a FREESTYLE TRACK!!! the old school beat or the new school beat - whatever, its been given a 'facelift' of a freestyle production...yes, the ORIGINAL ISSSSSSSS EURO - but the remix issssss FREEEEEEESTYLEEEE!

Yes, R&B does blow, why? Because it's purely about sex nowadays! Hip Hop is almost non existant in my books, it's only (c)Rap nowadays. Rap is pure rubbish today for the most part, it's all about violence and sex and everything else useless. Go back to the 80's when Hip Hop had meaning, like LL Cool J's older music, it was nice, meaningful and not strictly about sex. KRS One, Public Enemy, Heavy D etc... that was hip hop, not the trash we get today! And Spyboy, what is it I said, ALL music is evolving... 😉 Some are for the better, but most, sadly are not.
 
what are u talking about...ll cool j - not sexual???? ok yeah, the mama said to knock u out album...but the rest? I do have to agree with u on r&b...not a slow song fan. freestyle's got it acceptance (some acceptance to ballads) but im not a big fan of it.

what can i say...im a gina: hardcore beats + itr = heaven LOL😉

Do you remember Going Back to Cali or Around the Way Girl? Those were nothing compared to today's type of Hip Hop, they had meaning and not just I wanna nail this bleep and that bleep. That type of music had meaning back then, now 🙄
