I can recall back to 1991, when HOT 97 used to dedicate a couple of hours to DISCO. believe it or not, i never liked disco. but i did have some favorites and i did enjoy listening to AL BANDIRO (spelling is wrong) i used to wonder to mysleves "i wonder if the disco fans really enjoy listening to disco on a sunday night?" meaning that it was the only time slot where they got a chance to listen to thier music. i kind of felt bad. i never imagined that we had to wait for certain days to hear our songs.
here we had freestyle on heavy rotation and we never had to wait to hear freestyle. now, here we are, a decade later, and we dont hear our music all the time as much as we did in the past. we have to resort to lunch mixes and just like HOT 97 had the disco, a Sunday show.
DISCO has a new home, with AL BANDIRO once again. DISCO is in heavy rotation on this station. perhaps, in 10 years, we can have an "all day freestyle station" once again.
