It's nothing new.

It's nothing new for Kenny Da Guido to contradict himself and/or try to come off has having major pull around here and elsewhere in the FreeStyle world. I have long noticed how his arguments usually rely on good intimidation tactics as opposed to good logic.

- Fernando Benitez from San Diego, CA -

P.S. I remember when he used to say, over on the Freestyle Nation Bulletin Board, that just because a song appeared on a FreeStyle compilation it had to be FreeStyle, which is not always the case. Case in point: David's "Love Is the Answer," on Micmac Presents Freestyle's Greatest Hits Volume 5. Although this was not the particular song he claimed had to be FreeStyle, his line of reasoning was as flawed on that topic as it is on this one! *LMAO*

Information Society, Secret Society, Depeche Mode, Erasure, and Kraftwerk had freestyle versions of their song which were very popular.

Depeche Mode "Strange Love"
Secret Society "We belong Together"
Infomation Society "What's on Yor Mind", "Running"
Erasure "Blue Savannah"
Kraftwerk "Tour De France", "Trans Euro Express"
Camouflage "Great Commandmant"

Music crosses styles all the time just like today with trance & hip hop, r&b.

who really give a flying rats ass about new wave having "freestyle" versions?!?!!?!? doesnt make the song "freestyle" anymore than it makes a black person white with make up on.

as for FERNANDO'S comment:

"contradict himself and/or try to come off has having major pull around here and elsewhere in the FreeStyle world"

its a fact i have tons of friends in the business and pull. im sorry you are stuck somewhere that has no part of the freestyle world. so stop being so jealous. (i owe it to "da man"! you know who ya are!)

you ask any die hard freestyle fan if those songs are freestyle and they would laugh at you.freestyle is freestlye and new wave is new wave. remember, new wave has spanned almost 2 decades, from blondie to kajagoogoo to depeche mode, so your talking about a wide range. freestyle has a very short but successul time frame. if you want to talk about new wav, go to a new wave site.

and if you have time to study me and my tactics, may i say you have no life? i mean, come on, i dont even have time to memorize lyics to a song let along someone's personna.

one more thing....please stop advertising for your cd's on here. you have to pay for advertising and its not fair you try and pull these schemes up in Johnny's & Jacks house.

There are those who know people in the industry and there are those who wish they did...And Kenny is one who knows them and knows his stuff. He's the man. Right honey?

Kenny Da Guido, you are da man!

Kenny Da Guido,

You are da man! Not! Keep name-dropping and telling us about whom, in the FreeStyle industry, you know--if that is what makes you feel important. You should have remained silent and let us think you were an idiot, as opposed to speaking up and confirming the fact.

I'm not mad or jealous, though. Actually, I think it's sad how you always feel the need to have the final word on matters which should not concern you. So what if someone wants to post about subjects not directly related to FreeStyle? Someone, I believe it was Popstyle, broke it down and explained just how much New Wave/Synth Pop does have to do with FreeStyle, and the only response you could muster was:

"you ask any die hard freestyle fan if those songs are freestyle and they would laugh at you.freestyle is freestlye and new wave is new wave. remember, new wave has spanned almost 2 decades, from blondie to kajagoogoo to depeche mode, so your talking about a wide range. freestyle has a very short but successul time frame. if you want to talk about new wav, go to a new wave site."

It is so sad, so sad to see that you don't even realize how ignorant you come across with lame responses such as "ask anybody," which only serve to indicate that you have no real good counter-argument.

By the way, I NEVER claimed that those songs were FreeStyle, only that your logic was flawed and that if you can participate in threads (on this very Web site) which do not directly relate to FreeStyle, then we should all be afforded the same opportunity.

Just two days ago, you responded to the thread titled "FAV NON FREESTYLE/RAP/DANCE SONG?" with the following answer:

"SAFETY DANCE" MEN W/O HATS
"NEW YEARS DAY" U2 ANYTHING BY THE CARS AND PRINCE

If we were to follow your own line of defective reasoning, we would have to tell you to take that post (in that thread) to a non-FreeStyle/rap/dance bulletin board.

How do you like that?

- Fernando Benitez from San Diego, CA -

P.S. I have a life. I'm not the one who comes on here talking about my personal sh!t: "Boo, hoo! I'm so bummed! I just lost my job." Blah, blah, blah.

Lookin at some of these posts ... Phil Lam (whoever you are), lists some of my FAVORITE 'alternative 80s dance' cuts in his list - NICE LIST !

Remember, there were MANY songs that came out during the underground club days of the 1980s that were NOT 'considered' dance officially, but could have EASILY been lumped into that category.

When you look back at the 80s, this brings up the whole 'music classification' issue -- Funk, electro, new wave, club, dance, house, modern disco, hi-nrg, cheese, bubblegum, etc ...

In any event though -- a lot of these songs (whatever their classification), were VERY good songs, and continue to be some of my favorites, even today ...

Despite any genres, here are some 80's songs that I really love:

Anything by Rick Astley (Never gonna give you up, Together Forever, Take me to your heart, Cry for help)

Propaganda - Duel

The Smiths - The boy with a thorn in his side, bigmouth strikes again

New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle, Blue monday

Pet Shop Boys - West and girls, what have I done to deserve this

B52 - Love tender, Private Idaho

Phill Collins - I cannot believe it's true, Easy Lover

The Freestyle Saga

Popstyle is correct: "Freestyle is not only a Latino
thing. Its a hybrid of many music genres!!! "

****************

Once upon a time, New Wave, R&B Dance, Disco, and Freestyle all lived in harmony. Their unity helped many of their songs to cross-over into the pop status. Moreover mixed marriages also brought the birth of some songs and artists that were both Freestyle and New Wave, eg. Information Society, both R&B Dance and Freestyle, eg. Lisa Lisa, and both Disco and Freestyle, eg. Company B., and even Pop and Freestyle, eg. Taylor Dayne.

But alas, each genre became more distinct and distinguished from the other genres. R&B got slower, New Jack Swing was born. Hip Hop was gaining popularity as the new Urban sound. House, a more direct descendent of Disco, was also gaining popularity as the new dance genre. The more acoustic-sounding modern rock was gaining ground over the electronic-styled New Wave in the alternative realm.

As for Freestyle, the MicMac sound became the new template for subsequent Freestyle songs. Although less pop and more underground sounding, it was accepted widely at first. There were more Freestyle records than ever emplying this sound, but without any crossover-appeal, both Pop and Crossover radio would slowly phase them out.

Freestyle made a short-lived comeback after crossing over with Deep House and Trip Hop, which were the popular dance genres at the time. But Deep House and Trip Hop also died out, and so did this new type of Freestyle.

******************

Lots of fluff, but I do believe that the only way for Freestyle to make another comeback is to adapt to another style. I think it should be Euro, Disco House, or Pop. It's possible to use just enough of different elements so that a song can still be identified as Freestyle.

BOO-HOO!! IM NOT BUMMED CAUSE I STILL HAVE MY SECOND JOB!! BOO-HOO!!! AND YA KNOW WHAT, I STILL HAVE MY FIANCEE, MY FRIENDS AND MY WONDERFUL LIFE. HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND AT HOME PLAYING WITH YOURSELF? WOW.....I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT YOU, NOR DO I CARE, BUT IT IS AMAZING HOW YOU PAY SUCH CLOSE ATTENTION TO WHAT I DO AND SAY........CAN I SAY "OBSESSED"? PLEASE, STOP ADVERTISING YOU SHITTY CDS ON HERE, IF I WANTED SOME OF YOUR CD TO SHOOT AT THE RANGE, ID ASK YOU FOR SOME.

hmmm

I am sure this dissing match between Kenny and Fernando can go on and on.. but lets stop now. You are both very valuable assets to ClubFreestyle.com and it sucks to see this.

Lets give Fernando and kenny a big group hug 🙂

LOL WORD JACK!!! I THINK THEY NEED A GROUP HUG!!!!!!LMAO.... WELL I BELEIVE EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION.. BUT GOING TO THE EXTENT OF GETTING THEIR POINT ACROSS.. NOT TO THE POINT WHERE THEY START ATTACKING EACHOTER. I THINK BOTH HAVE A GOOD ARGUMENTS, BUT TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH...IT'S ALL OPINION NOT FACT. I DON'T THINK ANYONE KNOWS WHAT CAME FROM WHAT, OR WHAT STARTED FREESTYLE. IT'S A CHAIN REACTION TO EVERYTHING.....TAKE IT LIKE THIS.. WHAT INFLUENCED FREESTYLE?... WHAT EVER INFLUENCED FREESTYLE WAS INFLUENCED BY SOMETHING ELSE.... IF YOU ALSO THINK ABOUT THIS WHAT IS THE FIRST REAL FREESTYLE SONG????? I AM SURE ME ASKING THIS QUESTION WILL STIR A LOT OF CONTROVERSY AND ARGUMENTS... ISN'T FREESTYLE ABOUT "BREAKING UP" OR BEING "HEART BROKEN" OR IF NO "BEING IN LOVE"? IN THAT CASE THEN WHAT IS RYTHM AND BLUES (R&B) ISN'T IT LIKE THE SAME THING?, JUST WITH A UPTEMPO AND BEATS? THESE ARE ALL QUESTIONS THAT I AM ASKING, NOT THROWING DIRECTLY TO NEITHER OF YOU. I DON'T KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT FREESTYLE HISTORY..AND FRANKLY I DON'T REALLY CARE, ALL I KNOW IS THAT I LOVE THE MUSIC..AND THE MEMORIES THAT IT BRINGS ME.. I THINK BOTH OF YOU KNOW ABOUT THE BUSINESS AND NOT THE REAL STORY ABOUT FREESTYLE...THAT'S JUST MY OPINION... I'M NOT HERE TO ATTACK ANYONE...OR TRYING TO SAY THAT ANYONE IS WRONG....I CAN'T ATTACK ANYONE ON A SUBJECT THAT I DON'T REALLY KNOW...

You used to ride the short yellow bus, right?

Kenny,

Perhaps you used to ride the short yellow bus to school when you were a kid, right? Maybe you licked the windows and sported a crew cut? Perhaps you were under the impression that being an idiot savant was okay, even if only the first half of the term applied to you? Regardless, you sure appear to be a mental midget. Who is the "wetback" here? Me, whose family only had to cross a border to get here, or you, whose family/ancestors had to cross an ocean? Once again, you are showing your true colors: Nothing clever to say when it comes down to it, except for a few stale remarks.

I'm very happy you've got your fiancee and your wonderful friends. Maybe you should spend more time with them and less time posting here. Last I checked, you were at over 400 posts, and I was only at about 115. Who's the loser now?

I hope you and your fiancee get married and have a wonderful life. By the way, are your parents aware she has a penis?! *LMAO* I had no idea you swung THAT way.

- Fernando Benitez from San Diego, CA -

P.S. Let's see just how much you don't care about what I wrote. Try not to wear yourself out replying with any type of clever repartee. Oh, I forgot, your mental capacity will not allow that to even be an issue.

P.P.S. I take it you and your "girl" are no longer interested getting my CD's, so that the both of you may sport them as c@ck rings?! *LMAO*
