THE INTERVIEW I DID WITH ZOE AT AUTO NATION THIS SUMMER
1-How old were you when you first got involved in the industry?
Professionally I was19,but I’ve been singing since I was about 13.
2-You know freestyle is at a very low point, why do you still decide to
sing it?

I just love writing freestyle,it’s a part of who I am,Ive always liked the music. As a person that loves freestyle I’m gonna help support it Im not gonna help kill it.So Im not stuck to it,I do other things, for example I do euro for Europe;but Toronto is pretty good with freestyle considering its dying.New freestyle seems to have a new feel which I hope will get some more attention and bring it back.
3-Do you plan to do other genres?
Euro, vocal trance and if I EVER decide to do something else its gonna be under a different name,Im not gonna stop doing the Zoe stuff.
4-What other genres do you think you’d like to explore?
I also like R&B/Pop.
How about the Pop scene?
That to seems to be changing into a rock feel..Who knows maybe when im
older and cant perform anymore ill switch!
But if you had a personal preference then would it be R&B?
R&B/Pop,like the hard Pop,like Shawn Desmond stuff,I like his music.Like I said I will never quit the freestyle and euro, thats my priority. And if I would it would be under a different name.
5-In a way you’re just starting out.Whats the hardest part of making
a name for you in this industry?

The hardest thing in music is getting a lot of radio play.Thats always been the hardest thing.I cant complain considering its my 1st year practically,Im on 6 comps,I get a lot of support from Z103 considering Im just doing freestyle,I’ve done a major concert with them.Getting on rotation and getting through the competition, that is the hardest part of music, its always been it always will be,especially with the small market.
6-If you could pick 1 thing, what is the one thing that makes all the
trouble, all the hard work worth while?

People who say Im their role model and my words affect their life.Even if its 1 person, telling me my song affected their life and made them feel better. That makes me feel like I never wanna quit what I do.
7-What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Actually at Ice Castles *laughs*.Missing steps from my choreography I almost wiped out. Also my Kiss92 interview, this was my 1st interview and the first time they played “this isn’t love anymore” I was just so nervous that I blanked out.
8-What is the next goal you are working towards?
Musically I wanted to get signed internationally. My other goal was to do an international concert in my home town(which she did)So Im really really excited about that.My next goal musically would be getting on daily rotation and hopefully it will happen soon. But it takes time and I do have patience,I have determination, and I work hard. Also aside from music,Im in 3rd year university,I want to graduate, and I want to complete teachers college.I also teach music and my goal was to have my students on a cd,2 of them will be on Planet Freestyle,Desire and Thiago Derucio.I eventually wanna get married and have a family, you know what ever girl wants*laughs*
9-Why wasnt “this isnt love anymore” released on a cd here in Canada?
I switched labels and things didnt work out.
10-How were you exposed to freestyle? When and how did you first hear
it?

I grew up in Italy.I did not have freestyle until I moved here (Toronto)10 yrs ago.I think Rockell was one of the first that I’ve always listened to.Then it would have to be Stevie B,I love Stevie B!
11-You do a lot of all ages events. Why don’t you do more 19+ events?
It’s not up to me.Plus with the under 19crowd my music seems more popular. The promoters that promote all ages push more for Euro and Freestyle more so than 19+ promoters.
12-You have been on 4cds in the past year and will be on a 5th very
soon. What has changed from this time last year up until now,in regards to your music and career?

My song writing abilities are broader than they used to be.Im exploring other writing styles. Also my voice has changed from singing freestyle to stuff like Euro/Trance which requires you to sing a bit different.Overall I have more experience and confidence.
13-Who have you worked with within the industry?
Joee,Shawn Desman,Chris Phillips,Kathy Phillips,ENC just to name a few.
