FreestyleManiac, it goes to show you that everyone has different tastes. I have Connie's album but Funky little beat really sucks. I love Inside Outside by the Cover Girls. I also love Planet Soul's "Set u Free". It brought about the trip/hop Freestyle sound which many freestyle artists copied. Latin Love by Trilogy was a good track. Full Circle by Company B was an excellent track. Hit number one on the dance club play and singles say charts in billboard in 87. Was big in the clubs when I was in California. I can't believe people hate Johnny O's "Fantasy girl". I think alot of the new school, with remakes and all, is horrible. Weak vocals and the same ol' sound. Don't get me wrong there is still some quality material out there but I think all the remakes are getting tired and old. It is hard to find a compilation anymore that does not have a remake on it these days. Freestyle was best from 87 - 96. What happened? :-(

After reading so much about "Funky little beat"..i had to comment...

Back in da day, this song was da shiiiiiiiiiiiit...recently, i played it in one of my mixshows on ktu...(i hadn't played it in years)...and I can see how some people think it sounds cheesy now....

But if you are from back in the day, chances are you'll like it more than the people who are not old enough (man i'm sounding old now) or weren't listening to freestyle back then. For instance...my friend who never listened to freestyle heard me play it recently and said 'what the hell is this crap'..but 3 of us who remember it from back in the day said "are you crazy, this was slammin back then!!"

does that make sense ?!? lol

Just as old.......

I remember that song....my 4 1/2 year old heard it at a wedding we were at and loves it...she's always singing parts of it.....of course she doesn't get all the words.....just goes to show how old I am....🙂

I forgot.....worst songs...I have to agree with Temptation and Whispers...I am not a Corina fan at all....

To each his own...I don't particuliarly care for her...I think Lil Suzy is an excellent vocalist as well as Nyasia, Judy Torres and the Rios Sisters...like I said that's just my opinion...

Connie - Funky Little Beat

From my deejaying experience, "Funky Little Beat" was always a crowd-pleaser, especially people into Old School. I usaully mixed it with Electro Funk and Booty Bass.

It's really a easy-going song to groove to, like "Hey, Mr. DJ" by Zhane or "Summertime" by Jazzy Jeff/Fresh Prince, but in Freestyle mode.

Planet Soul is not FreeStyle.

XBklynNyCGyrlX,

I have to agree with you on this one--Planet Soul's "Set U Free" is not a FreeStyle song, and "Mandolay" is a great Old School song.

Nothing compares to the classics, except (maybe) the New School FreeStyle with that Old School sound (like Willie V.'s productions).

Ok Man....Its Like This

Personally...The Song That I Think Was And Is So Fu**in Cheesy The Way It Was Made And All Is " Diamond Girl " By: Nice & Wild. The Song Starts Off With Some Sort Of Toilet Splashing Then Goes Eh Uh Eh Uh Eh Uh Eh Uh...Then In 1 Part Of The Song...U Hear The Guy Go " I'll Always Be Ur Diamond Girl " Anyone Else On My Side? ahahahaha
Keep It Pumpin'
Always,

I don't like Nocera - Summertime, Summertime either, I think her vocals in that song is very annoying.
And Diamond Girl Is The Sh**, I love that song. Sure it's a little corny and all, but I love the singing and the Bassline.

"toilet bowl splash thing" LMAO!!!!!! it is a bit cheesey but i still love it!!!!!

ReGoRem, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I still think "Funky Little Beat" is a cool song. U got any old school freestyle "12 inches from '85-92'?Since u said u mixed Connie's song, I was just wondering.
