new freestyle which has progressed, mostly on the west coast. the Angelina's, Rosalinda's, Sharyn Maceren's, Jocelyn Enriquez's, Kenny Freestyle's, Damia's, many of these artists put out a new sound years ago

we accpepted it but it didnt make such an impact on the east coast. 🙁

maybe some of you accepted it but the majority didn't. i have seen it here on polls, questions, people's favorite songs, etc,
i have even seen lots of hostility towards the new freestyle. i also notice that when many people on here are talking about new freestyle, they aren't bringing up new west coast freestyle.

yes, but thats the fans. we accpepted it BUT radio chose not to entirely embrace it. If so, we would still be hearing the west coast stuff today.

Great points you guys. But, I still think that hip hop merging with other genres of music like Rock and pop is why hip hop is bigger. Now if Britney or Nsuck or Whitney deside to take a page out of The Late Dan hartman and Debrah Harry's book and record freestyle like records, maybe the boat will get moving.

kenny,
i am talking about fans and the people here on clubfreestyle. not many seem to embrace the new sound.

I SAW THISPOST BUT THOUGHT I HAD RESPONDED TO IT AND THEN I REALIZED I HADNT SO I HAD TO ORIGINAL QUESTION WAS WHY IS HIP-HOP BIGGER THEN FREESTYLE. I THINK I LOVE HIP-HOP AS MUCH AS I LOVE FREESTYLE AND I THINK THERE ARE VARIOUS REASONS AS TO WHY IT IS BIGGER. ONE I WILL BEGIN BY SAYING IS THE DIVERSE STYLES OF HIP-HOP THERE ARE TO THOSE WHO DONT REALLY LISTEN TO FREESTYLE I HAVE SO OFTEN HEARD SAY ITS ALL TEH SAME ETC ETC BUT IN ALL REALITY IT ISNT IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN TO THE LYRICS AMONGST HIP-HOP ARTIST YOU WILL KNOW THAT THEY ARENT AT ALL THE SAME SURE THEY MAY SPIT ABOUT THE SAME THINGS BUT THE STYLES ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT EACH ARTIST BRINGS A DIFFERENT ELEMENT TO THE TABLE AND SINCE ITS BIRTH IT HAS CHANGED IN SO MANY WAYS. IM GOING TO TAKE TWO OF MY FAVORITE ARTIST THAT ALWAYS LEAVE ME IN AWWW THOSE WHO KNWO ME KNOW EXACTLY WHO I AM GOING TO NAME LOL DMX AND NAS TO ME THESE TWO ARTIST ARE TWO OF THE BEST NOW IF YOU SIT AND LISTEN TO THEM SPIT YOU WILL NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE IT IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BUT WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT THEY ARE BOTH VERY TALENTED MEN DMX GIVES YOU THAT STREET FLAVOR WHILE NAS GIVES YOU MORE OF A PHILOSOPHICAL FLOW I LISTEN TO THEM OVER AND OVER AND APPRECIATE EVERY BIT OF FLOW THEY GIVE IF YOU LOOK AT JAYZEE HE IS THE ONES WHO GIVES YOU THAT PARTY FLAVE EVERYTIME. OK MY POINT BEING HIP-HOP ARTIST ARE DIVERSE THEY CHANGE STYLES CONSTANTLY THEY ARENT SCARED OF TAKING CHANCES EITHER THE FANS EXCEPT IT AND GO WITH IT OR NOT EITHER WAY THEY HAVE DONE THERE THING AND HIP-HOP FANS REMAIN TRUE DESPITE THE CHANGE AN ARTIST MAKE PERSONALLY I THINK HIP-HOP IS A FAR MORE COMPETATIVE MARKET THEN FREESTYLE BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY ARTIST OUT THERE BUT HOW THE SAYING GOES ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE AND THAT IS WHY YOU SEE SO MANY ARTIST OUT THERE DOING THERE THING LOOK AT LL COOL J FANS REMAIN LOYAL. UNITY ISNT WIDE SPREAD AMONGST THE FREESTYLE INDUSTRY. FANS ARENT AS EXCEPTING OF CHANGE WITHIN FREESTYLE WHERE IN HIP-HOP CHANGE IS GOOD. HIP-HOP IS COMBINED ELEMENTS OF MUSIC. THIS IS ONE GENRE THAT WILL NEVER FADE BECAUSE IT AND ITS FANS ARENT AFRAID OF CHANGE. 🙂

cause everyones trying to be so hard ass. sex and shooting is what they like, when dancing (excercise) is what most of them need! 🙁

Jay Z party flava eh? I remember his first album, Reasonable Doubt.. it didnt have much of a party mood to it AT ALL.. just lots of bullshit talk about being a hustler, dealing with Colombian traffickers, etc.

But I guess his subsequent 48 albums, none of which I have really paid much attention to, have a party flava.

I AM KENNY I SAID ALMOST LOL FREESTYLE IS MY HEART AND WILL ALWAYS BOO ITS WAT I GREW UP CANT EVER LET GO OF MY ROOTS LOL 😀

It's funny how all this started and it drifted from where it came. Ty is right, and many of you, Jason said is cheap and easy...Let me tell you is not Cheap. But easy of course it is.....Somebody had said that Hiphop and R&B of today has change from back in the days...let me tell you It will never even come close to the Music Back in the days.
Why? You may ask...easy...Cause all the elements that are being used are from Back In The DAYS!!! How many R&B and Hip-hop artists has used Mc Shan's "The Bridge" beat, or Boogie Down Productions Beat, some even used the same words and twisted in a few angles to make it better or worst to their own style. Puff Daddy King of Sampling...how many more can be done? Using Biggie music for everybody else...and Tupac are you sure he's dead? I mean I agree how many albums can be done..your not a miracle worker, where the video's done way back too? MTV Sucks...it's not about Music anymore is about "The Real World"...VH1 is better and more informative. As for Freestyle I agree maybe the lack of responsability and Creativity faded, but hey we have to try harder. Also Kenny there many places that have Gay music section and there's pleanty of Gay Artists I will say 75% of them are, but hey that not what makes them is the Talent that they bring. But catogorysing them because of their sexual beings that not Cool and don't like it...There has been all kinds of artists in any generation of music, Freestyle has had Blacks, Whites, Italians, Latinos, Asians, basicly different nationality but has brought out Freestyle, Many are gay and Straight a few are Bi, but hey they brought you Freestyle, and alot many different age that brought to you Freestyle. I agree that Oldschool will never Die and for that is because In Rap, Club Music, House, Techo, Rock, and Heavy Metal will be unique, and from that Freestyle, HipHop, Grunge, High Energy Dance, Trance, and Alternative came out off....Lets be us.....and also there's a few Mischiefs in the Freestyle industry that aren't doing so well....but negativity willnever be part of our style!!!!!!!!God Bless

Some forget that in 1992 House and Techno also took a huge drop in popularity. Staions like Hot 97(NYC), WPGC(DC), Hot105(MIA) started to cut house/dance mix shows down to 30 mins. And Top 40/CHR stations would play the occational club track like Haddaway-What is love, but on Rhythmic Crossover was going towards HipHOP. Like Grunge/Alternative was ousting the Hair Bands of K-Rock and MTV's Headbangers Ball.. At that time, those types of music was reflecting the hard times teens and college students were dealing with. In order for freestyle to return to popularity is.

1. A producer needs to convince a pop/r&b singer to do a freestyle track(which is why hip hop is big for the last time. It merges with other genres)

2. The promotion with new school artist needs more effort and the fans really need to step up.

I hate Rap. Except from some Nelly songs, and rap from like 1993-1994 that had a beat to it.(like Whommp There It Is) If I cant dance or party to a kind of music...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it!

SexyAngel:

I agree 100%! I luv hip-hop the same as well. I luv a lot of different types of music. But hip-hop production is crazy nowadays. They don't hold back, they try anything. I think that's what keeps it alive. There's so much diversity. Hip-hop artists also collaborate a lot. I mean Safire & Cynthia was a great idea and they produced a great track. Could you imagine if we got more collaborations from artists like that!

I also think it's bigger because hip-hop artists have bigger budgets.

It's all corperate!! Hip Hop, Rock and Pop are mostly on big Labels with Billion Dollar bugets. These companies have pull with Viacom(MTV, BET, VH1) and radio. Even other styles of dance like House, electronica have a disadvantage. Big labels have bigger promotions and more pull.
