I too have heard the new pope is ultra-conservative. We'll see if he maintains his stance on the priests getting married. As soon as he starts to deal with the sex abuse scandal, he might change his tune. If you think about it, I believe one or more of the apostles were married. It was just a rule that was made during the middle ages I believe because priests were leaving all their money to wives and children, instead of the church...and no disrespect to the new pope, but I think he seems a bit scary, something in his eyes...

Your right Dianita, priest not being able to marry was a man made rule. Can't remember when it started, As for this new pope he looks evil to me, but looks can be decieving. Lets see what he has to offer, although if he is as conservative as he is being made out to be, looks like i wont be rushing back to the Catholic faith anytime soon.

we will never have a pope like John Paul II.. no other pope will have the heart he did.. he was one of a kind.. this new one looks mean but hopefully he will be a good pope...

points 1 & 2 is based on teachings of the bible jesus and the appostles so you cant expect change like that

To my knowledge, Jesus never said anything about homosexuality, or priests not being married.

While the bible makes references to homosexuality, it is not in the ways you think.

Yesterday at my job it was a big deal. Georgetown Univ, the oldest Catholic Univ in the US, we had CNN on the giant TV in the bookstore. Everybody was gathered around the TV.
