I think this might be why NU-Freestyle is not the joint like the oldschool was, because the productions now are too quality.

:hohsit The productions now are too quality???

Just when I thought I heard it all! :rolleyes

Sorry bro, but freestyle is a dead genre today because of the inferiority of new school productions. I don't know how any person could state that current production qualities are superior to the standards of the 80s. It just boggles my mind! :bangbang

If you compair the AUDIO Quality of the tracks from the 80's to the current tracks of today, you will find the music had a GARAGE LIKE vintage finish to almost all the productions. Digital recording eqiptment was for the far and few, Most productions where done Analog with milti track Cassete Recorders, or Reel to Reels... Some HIT Track Vocals where litrtally recorded in Closets and Bathrooms. Most Old school shit originated in the ghetto (Where it all Started) where top notch equipment was not your everyday thing,,, That kind of Vintiage Finish is not being captured these days... Every Producer NOW has Pro-Tools/Cubase, almost everything is now with-in the Digital Domain...
AUDIO Quality is the POINT Im trying to make here! You can have a BAD track thats Audio Quality is SUPERIOR..

Ya feel me now?

I still don't agree. You can throw in all the technology you want, my ears don't lie. It's still inferior. Technology is no substitute for production quality.

Here's an experiment: Listen to "Cutting's Best Extended Mixes" and then listen to any Adam Marano produced CD. I dare you to tell me the audio quality of the Marano material is superior.

Listen to any Chris Barbosa production from the 80s and then listen to any Chris Phillips production from the last few years. I dare you to tell me the audio quality of the newer material is superior.

I guess this just proves what I have always believed: It's not the technology that makes the production, it's the producer.

Digital Technology (ie Pro Tools, Cubase, etc) has only made it easier for amateur producers to flood the market with inferior crap.

Thank you guys and gals for supporting me....I don't know how the hell this person got my private email,...I don't know maybe I posted it somewhere, but anyway, here's his response when I told him to kiss my ( ! )

Worst vocals

The worst vocals I recall from old-school freestyle is by RAHN who sang "Give your Love to Me". The music part was awesome with heavy Tolga beats, but the vocals were totally off. Thank God for the Instrumental version on that 12 inch.
