Being Biracial is a beautiful thing
But
It can be a stressful thing
Sometimes it's hard to take sides
If you take sides
You will not be accepted
I got these vibes
From the Blacks in my neighborhood
I'm not black enough
From the Whites on my job
I'm not white enough
It can be confusing
and
Stressful
From here on
I'm part of one race
The Human race
That's the only place I fit in

Wow Mike! That was excellent! Something very diffrent from what I have read, and it is very true! You be who you want to be...Not everybody would except you, but who needs them?..lol..You go boy! Keep written sweety...

AMEN!!!

MIke, I'm Biracial too. I'm half black, half white just like you!
Finally, someone feels my stress. I'm half Slovak and half Nigerian and i know the gave of tug of war that i'm subjected to when it comes to taking sides.

I feel your pain, boy.

But you know what, i'm so proud to have two heritages. I'm proud of my dark eyes, my dark hair, my caramel skin, my mixed features and my parents who are so different looking, but who both came together to make me.

Love sees no color. Be proud of being biracial. We're rare and beautiful.

Dude, I'm impressed..OMG...sweetie, just be yourself..You are blessed. You share the best of two nations, two worlds, two cultures..some of us don't have that luxury. If people cant see that, they lack knowledge, wisdom and most important A HEART!!!!!

BE PROUD. BE STRONG. AND CONTINUE YOUR WRITING..WE ARE HEAR TO SHARE THE GOOD & THE BAD...THANKS FOR THE INFO ABOUT YOU.

MUCHOS BESITOS MY FRIEND.

Hey Mike, I just read your poem now and I thought it was great. Some of the ppl I went to high school with were biracial and I never thought of it as a question of where do I belong until I became really close friends with them. I thought they had the best of both worlds, but turns out, they had issues on a deeper level. I know I haven't known you that long, or that well, but I think you're great the way you are...you've made me feel like part of the family on this site, and your also talking about meeting up when I transfer to UMD and I just want to give you a big thanks for that. You're such a sweet, awesome guy and I wish nothing but the best for you hun! 😀

I haven't really considered the biracial issue of "taking sides" between white and black - more often I've considered the immigrant issue of staying true to traditional values or learning new culture - but that's really very interesting.
