I loved the guitar solo in freestyle songs such as Point of no Return by Expose. It seemed to be common in the classic Miami sounding freestyle sound of the mid to late 80s

GUITARS

:blah :blah :blah THOUGH THE CHEESE ELEMENT OF THE EARLY 90,S LATE 80,S IS TRUE GUITAR WISE I WANT RHOQ TO KNOW THAT THE MEXICANIS NOT A REMAKE ITS THE ORIGINAL REDONE BY JELLYBEAN + THE FUNKY 4

Kayel - "FEEL IT (THE MEXICAN)" by The Funky Four came out a year or two prior to "THE MEXICAN" by Jellybean...Although I have always liked the song, I like the one by The Funky Four a little more than Jellybean's version. Musically the songs are pretty much the same, but lyrically there are notable differences. Jellybean's "THE MEXICAN" was just more popular - kind of like "YOU ARE THE ONE" by TKA, it was a cover of "YOU ARE THE ONE" by Karla Reddish (which, by-the-way, I happen to like TKA's version better), which predated the TKA release by 2 years.

Yo Are You Kidding??? Lol, The guitar solos on some songs are AMAZING....

Love the one on Secret Society "Find Yourself", Solid "Loving You" and the ones in Voice in Fashions "Only in the night" and "Give Me Your Love"....The one on Jellybean's Mexican was cool too.

However, I have to agree, i would rather edits, record scratches, breaks and that synth-voice thingy (....example...in the beginning of Judy Torres "No Reason..", that 'n-n-n-no no rea- n-n-n-no' that is a sample of her voice looped,). Those qualities DEFINITELY belong...and would rather these to a guitar solo any day....

i know this post is old but jellybean's mexican is a remake of the babe ruth classic not the funky four...the babe ruth mexican was was a break dance record that was huge at it's time..

What does not belong in a Freestyle song? If there is one thing that has always annoyed you about a particular song, what is it? Is there something that always seems out of place?

For me, I have always felt that an electric guitar solo in the middle of a Freestyle song does not need to be there. In almost every case, the electric guiter kills the song...

If the guitar appears like a ROCK MUSIC Solo I agree, does not belong there.

But more annoying -and speaking of *cough* "New School" - are those
f..... "TRANCE SYNTHESIZER" hooks, sounds plastic-like.

Yeah I'm tired of the Planet Rock beat...usually I pride myself on knowing a freestyle song on the first few notes, but the planet rock beat confuses me sometimes....what I also would like is for freestyle music to be more dignified in 2005...well 2006 rather since we're almost there. Too many songs are like "oh you left me I can't live without you, now I must die" or " you sunavabitch/whore you played me, now you must die"....That's why I like "Quit All Those Games" by Ashley cuz she's like oh well you played me but i'm not gonna stress it..songs like that.

in In Paradise how they sing "In Paradise" at the beginning
thats kinda gay.

Definitely not electric guitars!!!LOL about the In paradise, yea that was bad! hehe
