What does not belong in a Freestyle song? If there is one thing that has always annoyed you about a particular song, what is it? Is there something that always seems out of place?

For me, I have always felt that an electric guitar solo in the middle of a Freestyle song does not need to be there. In almost every case, the electric guiter kills the song...

The thing about "THE MEXICAN" is: the song itself is a remake ("FEEL IT" by The Funky Four). The guiter is the actual melody of the song and was present in the original as well...

Just to name a few songs that feature an electric guitar solo in the song (and yes, I believe it kills the song)...

"MATERIALISTIC GIRL" - & More
"ANSWER MY CRY" - Jaidie
"LOVE CAN'T WAIT" - Lil' Suzy

That was just to name a few, I am sure you can see where the list is going...

ummm Eric van Halen?? no just kidding... what kills a song quick is the "planet rock" back beat...can anyone argue that it hasnt been been done to death?:realsad

According to the credits for "THINKING OF YOU" on Sa-Fire's album, it says...All instruments: Russell DeSalvo

No credit was given on the & More 12" single for "MATERIALISTIC GIRL"

I think that if done right a guitar solo adds to the song and proves that Freestyle is also an art form not just some dance music on the radio. Take the intro to "Santa-li", the solo in "Don't want to lose your love"or the beginning of "Sincerley Yours"club version, that Spanish sound is beyond compare. Then you got one of my favorites electric solos in "January February" definitely classic Freestyle. Then there is "everything I own" by Joey Kidd who many do not know had the dude from... forgive me for saying this.."guns and roses" do the solo for him. There are so many out there to mention but I have never considered guitar solos to harm Freestyle.. after all it is LATIN hip hop and the Spanish have always been known for their great guitars!! VIVA Freestyle WEPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I totally Agree!!!!
the guitar solos just prove that freestyle is not just corny dance music, it has an edge to it and not to mention the fact that some of my favorite freestyle songs have that guitar solo in it. I love the guitar in Expose's hits for "Point of No Return" and "Come go with Me and I love it in "Over and Over" by pajama party.

growing up with Freestyle i didn't mind the guitars back then, but now it's all about the beatz for me! sometimes i play an old school freestyle track and when the guitar solo comes in the break, it just kills it for me! i rather haves some hard hitting beatz with crazy sick edits!
