John,

Keep up the great work with your label; I like the quality versus quantity approch of releases; it has ensured continued growth and success in this niche dance music market.

I hope your label will take a serious look at an artist like Lil Suzy; she is unsigned, full of talent and has had a proven track record in freestyle, eurodance, house and has potential for vocal trance export as well.

Jonpito: I wish you well with your projects.

Aspiring Artists & Producers:
My only real advice to is believe in yourself and your music. Know who you are trying to get to buy your music and know who plays your style. Do some leg work and get a promo into the hands of the tastemakers (Club's, Mixshows, retailers in that style) and see what you have. CD-R's are cheap now so you have no excuses to get the important people your music but make sure they are important first. Important means a person that has the power to expose your music to the masses.

Don't sink money into a project unless you see signs that you have something. I am not of the opinion that postcards, posters and snipes sell records. They might create a little bit of awareness though. We don't really do them at Robbins. Put your money into things that are going to get your records sold.

With today's computer technology, there is no excuse for a poor quality record. Daniel Beddingfields "Gotta Get thru this" was made on a $75 computer program and was #1 around the world. Excuses are for failures. Make like Nike and just do it! I have absolutely no problem telling someone what I think of a track because it is my opinion. That doesn't mean that it's a fact, it only my opinion.

Robbins is an 8 person operation. Of those 8 people we only have 2 promotion people. Two! If your project is important to you (and it should be) you need to learn about the business before you start sinking money into it.

Picture where you want to be and determine the steps you need to take to get there. Work your way backwards from the top and that will help you see how to get to where you want to be. Ex: Your goal is you want your record on the radio. Before you get an add at radio, you need to be on the mixshows. To get on the mixshows you need to know who the mixers that can play your record are, to find out who the mixers are you need to do some research, etc. These steps will help you prepare for success. Sorry to sound like a self-help guru but I think that a lot of people just think they can make a record and it magically will be a hit. It doesn't happen that way.

Bassbump: I replyed. Check your PM's.

Again, feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to help out.

Thanks!

Yesterday afternoon, we had an office party at a place called "Jillians". It's sort of like an adult version of "Chuck E. Cheese". Anyways, it was the owner/chairman of our company's birthday and he took us out there to go bowling. They were playing music at Jillian's bowling lanes and one of the songs they played was a house mix of "TEARS" by Rockell. Now I know for sure that when I buy the 12" single, I will not be listening to house mixes. LMAO.

John ;

Thanks for the response. Very informative.

Keep up the Great job.

It is about time this song saw the light of day. This is the best song of the "Instant Pleasures" CD. I, hope, but doubt that there is an extended mix of the Freestyle (original mix). That seems uncommon anymore. I don't know why...especially when the original mix is better than the remixes on the CD maxi or 12" single. Looking forward to getting this one.

I heard the song awhile ago...And I love it...I told Joe Zangie that the last time I spoke ti him, and I told her that too. Im not sure if you mentioned it in this thread...but will it be a diffrent version when the single comes out in stares?

oh my goodness, the Dezrok radio mix is horrible! the original version of "tears" is the best rockell song on her last album, great song with radio potential, but the remix butchered the song!

"Jillians".

I love that place!! we have one a couple of towns away from me. CRYSTAL had her birthday party there and Neslon "FFWD" Cruz showed up. we had a blast!!

I also caught "TON LOC" there a few months ago in concert!

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! Hee remembered...:hearton

LOLOLOL..BTW, it is a great place!

an udult version of chucky cheese!

i wana go!!!!

John,
im second in the thought that you should look at lil suzy.
its true, she is unsigned and when i saw her show in orlando she had a huge huge responce. she also had a mix of everything in her performance: house, freetyle, nrg etc.

ive seen other artist that are out ther now. suzy doese more than just stand around and look pretty. she dances around and puts on a good show. she is actually at a good age too.

even myself, fiori and nayer were dancing around back stage..but we ran to the front to get the whole affects.

and thank you!! i should print it out what you said.
to be on the radio, first you need to get on the mix shows.
alot of the bigger people in the industry dont care about mix shows. you tell them your in the mix and they are like "unless its on rotation..its no big deal". some dont even wana deal with the djs, just the pd or md.

i dont get it.

oh, Ashley.......how r u?

still wanting to see one of your shows..i heard so much. (good things good things),lol.

ahh..new york in the x-mas time...never saw it.

later all

Jack - that's definitely 50% of the solution. The other 50% would be consistancy. How many "quality" Freestyle songs featuring writing and production on par with Tony Moran's work on "TEARS" have been released in the 2 years, 1 month and 3 days since Rockell's INSTANT PLEASURE album was released...Not many, if any at all.

Tony Moran definitley has much to do with it. From way back when ,Moran has been the force behind some of the best jamz!

Everybody likes Tony's production, no doubt! lol I like the original "Tears" but that remix is also very hot! It got like a futuristic house/new wave type sound. It's different

Sexy cover pic too! Lookin good there Roc

IT KICKS ASS & RHOQ your right the mans is a genius (Tony Moran).

i got the single last week. im a big house head but i wasn't feeling the dezrok mix. i gave that mix a lot of listens but it didnt catch me...the original is still my favorite. thAt version is hot! hopefully ktu will add it their rotation.
