anybody into those freestyle tracks that didnt have singing vocals like the stuff that came out in 1987 to 1989?
most of the beats were by frankie bones like
GANGSTERS OF FREESTYLE, FOURPLAY, AND FALLOUT on labels like fourth floor & underworld.

another cool track was midi jungle by midiboy on cutting records.

i also really dug that stuff that was a fusion of freestyle-electro and house music during these years also. masters at work "alright alright" i think is a good example of this.

heres what i know of so far...
midiboy - midi jungle
fallout - don't you want to rock
fourplay - make 'em rock
gangsters of freestyle - get the hoe
gangsters of freestyle - you gotta release
gangsters of freestyle - freestyle delusion
masters at work - alright alright
bam boo - its all in your mind
bam boo - bamboo i cant quit

anybody know of any other 2NS like these worth checking out?

Off the top of my head, there are also these electro funk/breabeat records:

Nova "You Can Do It"
Dynamic Breakers "Dynamic"
Newcleus "Computer Age"
Afro Rican "Give It All You Got"
Break Machine "Street Dance"
George Kraanz "Din Daa Daa"
Hashim "Castle Life"
Hashim "We're Rockin' The Planet"

etc....

hey anthony thanks bro,
sorry though these aint the toons im talking about. those are more early electro tracks.

if you go on www.electroempire.com
and go to the "music" search category and type in frankie bones, you'll get some hits back and you can check out the sound samples of them.
the midi jungle track is there too but you have to search it under "cutting records".

check em to get the vibe of the toons and they are more freestyle (beats and synths) but with no singing vocals.

although im not sure about the nova 1 you mentioned, but that dynamic breakers track is killer though!

@Beatsfromthepast....I didn't check out that specific link yet, but I think I know what you mean. I have quite a few of the ones you mentioned (Frankie Bones, etc..)...and thinking about it, I see the difference now. You made me go thru some of my stuff...lol..ok, I have stuff such as:

Masters At Work "Alright Alright"

The Break Boys "Give Us A Break (Boyee)"

The Break Boys "Underground Breakdown"

Fourplay "Make Em Rock (our way)"

Wired "To The Beat Of The Drum"

C.F.M. Band "Dance To The Music (body action)" & "Jazz It Up"

MKG "The Revenge" & "Back To The Past"

Cut To Shock "Put That Record Back On"

Now I'm gonna listen to these,,,haven't played them in awhile!
Anyway, you're talkin: Fourth World Records....Underworld Records...etc...

one of my favorites is "get the hoe" by gangster of freestyle. frankie bones is da man! was a big fan of his even when he switched it over to rave music.
one
M A R L O N

thanks anthony,
i figured you of all people would get what i was talking about! i love this stuff. but the tracks im looking for were all specifically from 87-89, anything prior 87 to me was just electro. i have a few of these records and would love more. i know frankie bones did most of the beats like dis. hes awesome.

i guess the beat clubs security can go with this category. its 1 of my fav songs and realistically i never really knew how to classify it. freestyle, miami, electro??? its simply a killer track!

thanks boys

@beatsfromdapast, I love all that stuff too. As soon as I "finish" my freestyle record hinting, I'm gonna to start picking up alot of electro funk, breatbeats, etc... The electro funk may be a bit tough to identify in a store (unless it's a common group) The breatbeats is a bit easier I think. If Musto & Bones are involved, you know it's probably good. If it's on Fourth Floor, you know it's probbaly good, etc...

Here are a few more that I haven't seen mentioned...

"WE'RE OUT OF CONTROL" by O.N.I.T. (Oh Know, It's Them!)
"CAN ANYBODY TELL ME" by 909 (MKG)
"CLEAR" by Cybotron

...And let's not forget the classic Latin Rascals album, "BACH TO THE FUTURE!", The Tommy Boy Records compilatin MASTERS OF THE BEAT and the Latin Rascals 12" "DISORDERLY CONDUCT"...

forgot all about the latin rascals stuff. macho mozart (love the dubs) is the perfect example for this stuff.
