It was mentioned in an interview with Ray. He was asked if he had any interest in the show and he said he was offered a role but he couldnt take it unless it was a "lead" which means that Gandofini would have to leave. It looks predictable because he is always having salary disputes and it takes almost 2 years for a new season!

Oh man, what a bad career move for Ray Liotta to take on the Sopranos.. Besides, if he wants his acting days numbered he should make Operation Dumbo Drop II..

He isn't taking the role and Gandolfini didn't bitch and groan for more $$$ for niente..

Yes, her role would be useless now if Tony doesn't get back into "Derapy". However, throughout the seasons, some of the greatest Sopranos moments have been when Tony confesses stuff to Dr. Melfi.

Regarding who's getting whacked this season, I think Johnny Sac is the leading candidate. Also, Tony has put out a hit on Fiorio (Carmela's fantasy boy) who's now back in Italy. Last, I think Christopher will certainly whack Paulie Walnuts. Cappicce!:uzi
