It seems that a lot of people have a problem telling the difference between a Remix and a Remake. For years I have sat here, in silence as I have read countless posts referring to remakes of songs as a "Remix"...

The easiest way to differentiate between the two is really quite simple. If the song features the exact same vocal as the original version then it is a REMIX. (In the world of Hip-Hop, artists tend to record a completely different version with different vocals/lyrics and label them as a "remix". I am only talking about Freestyle music here, not hip-hop)...If the song features a re-recorded vocal (ie. recent releases from Stevie B., Johnny O., Adam Marano and Lil' Suzy) then it is a REMAKE.

The most important thing about to look for in a remake is the vocal. If it is being performed by anyone other than the original artist, then there is no way in hell it can be any anything other than a REMAKE. I remember seeing threads discussing Aby's album and calling all of his remakes "Remixes".

(Have you heard Aby's remix of "WHY DID YOU QUIT ON ME"? Hell no, I have heard the ORIGINAL song by Bernardo and the REMAKE by Aby)...
