Looking again at my collection of songs i do have quite a few spanish songs that can be classified as Freestyle, I guess I just got used to hearing it all in English and only hearing some artist mix in spanish occationaly I never classified the spanish songs as Freestyle. This is cool cause my Freestyle collection just got bigger.

Nya,
I have your self Titled CD, but It doesn't have the song you mentioned. All the other singles are in English, Who carries the song so I can pick it up.. Just have to have all your work 😉

Ted, ELI RECORDS carries the spanish stuff. I did two single on that label (If I Could See you now & Y Tu Te Olividaras) and one on Exclusive Records (I Feel), and one on Artistik Records (True Love).

I don't understand Portugese all that well, but I still fell in love with a song I heard when I went to perform in Brazil. The music was beautiful and the voice was haunting, even though I didn't understand the words, until my bodyguard broke it down fo rme..lol, but what I am saying is that I don't have to understand the words in order to like the song, I listen to the music, I listen to how the person sings, the melody, or even the feeling I get when listening to it. Half the stuff that Sean Paul sings I can't understand, but put it on and I can't sit down..LOL😉

I THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEAL FOR THE ARTIST TO SING IN THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE SO THEY CAN ESTABLISH THEIR ROOTS AND POSSIBLY EXPAND THEIR FAN BASE, BUT ONLY IF THEY CAN SING???????
IT ALSO GIVES THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPAND THEIR OUTLETS FOR MUSIC IN DIFFERENT AREA'S.
I THINK THIS THREAD IS MORE SUITED FOR THE VELVET ROOM!!!!!!

Estilo Libre is HOT

plus in Spanish it just sounds sexier me siente?

In my own opinion, if a freestyle song is done is spanish, i dont consider it "SPANISH FREESTYLE". It's just another version of a song. Like Tonasia's "WONDERING" where he adds spanish along with english even though he is ITALIAN.

I swear...djsun...I was JUST about to type that. Spanish music...esp freestyle..is very HOT...muy caliente 🙂...whether you understand all the words or not!! I loveeee it!

Randi (FreestyleGal)

yeah manny i gotta say the song u recorded of "lady laura" is one of my all time favorites im a big fan also of roberto carlos i love all his balads......when this song became such a big hit it just had to come out in different types of music

for instance like mi panas from D.R raulin rosendo sang this song in salsa, the banda loca sang it in merengue both styles came out real nice now to top it off my nikka manny sang it freestyle which as they was the toppin on the cake and yo manny i gotta say when i heard ur song i was like..........no freakin way, the song came out dope in spanish with the freestyle touch and i love it alot man forreals now thats what should be made more often more songs in spanish

u be surprise how many doors could be open for those that wanna make the jump into the latin market cuz for those that are only spanish listeners once they hear more freestyle in spanish then there will be more fans who would grow into listening nothin but freestyle

but it would be kind of cool to see more freestyle singers sing in spanish i mean why should it be just in english only if ur latin then represent who u are as a person practice more the language cuz i know for those that are born here in the states they only tend to speak english only i guess but if the opportunity was there i say sing more freestyle songs in spanish cuz it will break alot of barriers

so manny and naya and whoever else sang freestyle in spanish big ups to ya 😉

hahahaha Naya... that's funny 😛

yeah I love spanish freestyle.. and you know what I love even more? When the song is in english and the last couplet is in spanish... that gives the song suuuuch seksiness... I really can't imagine DIAMOND GIRL without that spanish piece 😛

I really dont know, Naya! It's a confusing subject. I mean, everyone calls it "spanish freestyle" just because the singers are singing in spanish but what about songs with spanish and english? "spanglish freestyle"? and the other versions that can be found on singles such as SAFIRE'S "THINKING OF YOU" that was done in both languages. do we call the english version "freestyle" (so to speak) then the spanish version "spanish freestyle"?

I think someone bought up the term "spanish freestyle" a while back and the suject consisted of groups from other south american countries what sang in spanish but with a freestyle beat.

now, were just confusing the 2!

OK ok, well on my track Im working on now I have the version I did first called "dont want u 2 go" but I made a spanish cut. I titled it in english but added "the sofrito mix" to the name so tecnically its freestyle but I did a "remix" in spanish. So if it didnt start off originally in Spanish..... I cant officially call it "Estilo Libre," but just the "estilo libre mix"......Ouch my head hurts

Now what about german freestyle? I guess to reinforce the idea of more freestyle to be converted into spanish opens up the doors more to a larger audience of potential fans.........take for example, the peeps in germany doing their songs entirely in German. I hear german freestyle is huge over there.

so the idea of doing freestyle in different languages may be in idea to work with. My cousins live in brazil and brazilian freestyle is huge as well!!!

I have a friend who is hmong, I'm sure alot of you don't know what that is. Hmongs are a tribal group from Laos(that's next to vietnam),he recorded a cd a couple years ago that included a freestyle song entirely in hmong. I understand a total of about 2 words of hmong but the song was cool as hell!! I guess the point is freestyle is freestyle no matter what langauge it's in. As for spanish freestyle nobody has mentioned one of the all time classics, the b-side to Indias dancing on the fire, bailando en el fuego.... I think it sounds better in spanish, she sang her azz off!!

Actually I was about to (and I am) mention I think The best "No te vayas" Nayobe spanish cut of Please dont go but Indias "Bailando" was hot as well
