Hey all,
I wanted to get your opinion on something. A budy of mine ( DJ )has a entire spanish song listed as Freestyle, the song does Have all the Freestyle qualities and is a great song but I just don't remember hearing an entire spanish Freestyle song. The song is ( Me Abondonaste ) by (Bernardo). What's your opinion.:listen

Hi Ted,

There are alot of Spanish freestyle songs out there, I don't think I have heard the Bernardo one, but ELI Records has spanish freestyle. I myself have a spanish duet with Freddy Lopez "Y tu te olvidaras" I would like to hear more of the spanish freestyle though. Hey if they want to call it "Latin HipHop" or "Latin Freestyle" it stands to reason that some of the songs be in spanish. What is your take on it?

I love spanish freestyle. I recorded a song as well a couple of years ago, entitled Lady Laura. It is a remake of one of my favorite spanish songs by Roberto Carlos, which is dedicated to his mom. I think that there should be more freestyle in Spanish.

There area a lot of spanish songs...some are just spanish remixes...I know Lil Suzy did "Real Love" entirely in spanish and I've heard other well kown freestyle songs done in spanish...there are also songs done half spanish half english (angelina, johnny o and spanish fly are some examples) and then of course there are the songs just done in spanish...you just really gotta look out cuz you can find them on various cd

Having more songs in spanish will alienate more of the freestyle fans then it would gain. If you look back at the history of Freestyle music the songs were always sang in English so that the Italians, Jewish, and even the spanish kids would be able to understand and love it.

I love bernardos why did you quit on me in spanish its one of my favorites and manny lady laura is a good one..There are a whole bunch of freestyle songs in spanish

Ted- Great song. I stumbled upon "Me Abandonaste" a few years back when I bought a Miami Freestyle compilation. It has the English version on it as well.

A lot of artists today may do a Spanish version on their single, along with the English version. Artists such as Chrissy Ieece, Cynthia, Lil' Johanna, Nadine Renee, Collage and many, many others have been known to sing Freestyle/Dance in Spanish. It's definitely a good thing, giving the advantage to the artist.

FreestylePete- I would have to disagree. If anything, it will open the door to allow Spanish-speaking individuals to understand the music, bringing it more on a universal level. Seeing how high the Latino population is becoming, more artists should jump on the opportunity.

Just imagine, Freestyle can go really far. Places such as Latin America, South America, Spain, Cuba, Dominican Republic, y Puerto Rico will pick up on it. And those clubs and radio stations that only play Latin music, will eventually play Latin Freestyle/Dance on their regular rotation.

I love spanish freestyle! Many songs I hear feels like it's meant to be in spanish but they are not. Like some from N.V. etc Lation Nation's - Nunca I consider it spanish freestyle.

It will be awesome for artists to continue in that tradition...after all spanish is a very passionate language that one can so easily express.

I have to disagree with you too Pete. I don't think it would alienate fans, if anything it would bring more fans to it, like the ones who don't understand english, they won't buy the songs cause they don't understand it, but if they heard it in spanish as well, then there you go another one on our side.

Has anyone heard Artie's song "AMAME". I think it's a kick ass spanish freestyle song. Does anyone agree w/me??? The lyrics, beats, and vocals on this song are one of the best I've heard in my onpinion. I personally like alot of freestyle in spanish, but then again I just love freestyle music in general.

Yeah I love SPANISH Freestyle and I think they should have more...I have 2 ALL Spanish freestyle CD's which is called Lazoz de Amor and Lazoz de Amor part 2..I got those a few years ago and they are very good!

awwwwwwwwwwww patty I got them too they are my favorite by tony spinnin santana omg I love those cds they are mixxed like crazy I wish he still did the mix cd's🙁

Thank you Melissa, I am glad you like Lady Laura. I must say I agree with Nyasia. Spanish freestyle opens the doors to many new fans. I lived in Puerto Rico for two years while I was studying music, and I let a dj hear Lady Laura. He heard of freestyle before but was shocked to here one in spanish. He ended up talking to the owner of the night club and thanks to him I was able to perform my other songs as well as Lady Laura there. It opened many other opportunities to perform in Puerto Rico and bring freestyle to an audience that was not really familiar with the music. It was a great experience and I encourage anyone to record spanish freestyle, or freestyle of any other language for that matter. It definitely broadens the horizons for freestyle music.

Peace,
Manny

Latin Nation have alot of spanish songs, and also Bernardo took out 2 songs Quiereme is the other song. India had Dancing on fire, Nayobe had Please don't go, Nice and Wild had Diamond Girl, LAW had Missing Your love, Artie had Scret Lovers & Amame, Nyasia also did a spanish song right Nyasia? Lamour & Eye to Eye. There's so many artists Ayna, and many more.

As a Jewish-American, I personally love Spanish freestyle and own 2 of the Freddy Lopez cds. I also love freestyle songs that have Spanish lyrics in them like songs by Latin Nation, and songs like Baby No Te Vayas by FFWD. So I say---keep them coming! I dont think anyone would feel alienated!!
