some songs that kinda sound a little bit like freestyle (that may, or may not be concidered real freeestyle) by non-freestyle artists

"Tell It To My Heart" Taylor Dayne

"Favorite Girl" (Remix from 1990 or 1991) - New Kids On The Block

"Whole Wide World" - A'me Lorain

that's all I could think of at the moment - I'm sure ChuckD can think of many more, since his memory is much better than mine!

I love your choices badoftheheart. The only one I can think of off the top of my head right now is Love Me All Up by Stacy Earl.

Randi (FreestyleGal)

thanks Randi ~ Freestygal

the 1990 hit 'Whole Wide World' by A'me Lorain is one of my personal top 10 favorite songs, ever.

I'll have to check out Stacy Earl's 'Love Me All Up' I don't think I know it -- well it's possible but I'd have to hear it first 😀

lmao....my memory is not what it should be.

BadOf.....glad you enjoyed this topic from the Sunday Night Chat.

now chuck, dont you remember the discussion we had about this song? 😉

If you had read my reply on another board, you would see I said I said that song was freestyle to see your reaction.

Execpt to tease you, I have never considered that song to be 100% freestyle, but I do believe it is very "freestyle-ish", if that's a word. :lol

Around 1987, the breakbeat seems to have been popular. Some tracks which I can remember from this period are
Janet Jackson - Pleasure Principle
Jody Watley - Don't You Want Me
Pretty Poison - Catch Me I'm Falling, Nightime, When I Look Into Your Eyes
Taylor Dayne - Tell It To My Heart, Prove Your Love
as well as
Atlantic Starr - One Lover At A Time
British artists like Bananarama, Mel & Kim, and Dead or Alive even had some in their album fillers.

Jody Watley ~ Don't You Want Me - oh yeah, LOVE that track very much. closer to dance than freestyle, but regardless, awesome track.

Talyor Dayne's 'Heart Of Stone' is also awesome and has a few freestyle elements IMO (freestyle purists might disagree)

Does anyone know what ever happened to A'me Lorain anyway? "Whole Wide World" is one of my all-time favorite songs as well.

no idea :/

there used to be a website about A'me Lorain, like 3 or 4 years ago, but I think it's long gone, or at least I couldn't find it.

What about Kim Wlld "Keep Me Hangin' On"?
I have "whole wide world" on cassette single single lol

Not sure about these, I have not heard them in a while.
Sammie - "I Like"
Jordan Knight -"Give It To You"
Inoj-"Time after Time"
Sk8-"My Imagination"
Pebbles-"Giving You The Benefit"
2gether-"Awesome Lover"

All the below songs, I was never sure if they were 100% Freestyle. I always used to mix them with Freestyle songs though.

when in Rome - The Promise
Pet Shop Boys - West end Girls (Latin Rascals Mix)
Jellybean Benitez - The Mexican
Pebbles - Girlfriend
Pajama Party - Yo no se
George Michael - Hard Day
Debbie Gibson - only in my dreams

Timex Social Club - rumors

Iris Chacon - Am I a tease?
Reanna Page - Rescue Me
Rios sisters - Are you looking for love
Samantha Fox - I wanna have some fun
Shana - I want you
Solid - Loving you
Strafe - Set it off
