the fan base to hip hop is way beyond our fanbase should we be asking that question about ourselves .don't worry bout hip hop it will be on its feet a lot quicker than us ..they have corporate america behind it believe me at its current state its generating so much money that they can live very well for a few more years before they even change their format of topic or style plus they have the youth of america knocking at its door so creativity is there waiting to explode.for every britney fan there are ten to twenty hip hop fan and plus during this time of piracy hip hop is the leading form of music in record sales as well as down loading

wha u hear on the radio isnt hip-hop, its hip-POP (not all, but mostly lol)

immortal tech said it best ...
"Technique chemically unstable, set to explode
foretold by the dead sea scrolls written in codes
so if your message ain't sh**, f*** the records you sold
cuz if you go platinum, it's got nothing to do with luck
it just means that a million people are stupid as f***"

:lol :blah

Just wondering why this thread is still in the "freestyle Music Talk" section.... THIS IS NOT ABOUT FREESTYLE AT ALL!!!!

How many dj's we got in house??? Well i spin at a club here in town, weekend crowd......well say on a slow night 12 13 hundred.........anyways out or 5 night 4 of them i spin in the 70's 80's 90's room...........with the old school hip hop, disco, rock, and retro to some freestyle. Now with a good crowd i can hold my own, if you play the right songs at the right time........well you are rocking the party. Lets say its 12.30 12.45 am.....party is hype and people are going nuts. I get this lady, showing her mid 40's in age......she comes to ask me for a song now she is sweating from dancing so i must be doing a good job, people are having fun, screaming and singing along to jams that i ahve been playing and she is asking for a song she wants to hear..............WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT SONG IS?? 50 CENT MAGIC STICK........AND I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES THAT HAPPENS. On Fridays i spin in the room we have for dance and hip hop?rap and there is a difference for those that know.......anyways, you wanna know what gets the party going yes its all the hip hop/rap you guys speak of, yeah tere is more we could have been done back in the day for the freestyle music or the old schoool latin hip hop but other changes need to be made........I love freestyle, they listeners to the station here locally have labels me the king of freestyle cause everytime i was on the radio thats all i would spin, some people say i kinda kept it alive here but you know what when i spin at clubs, i have to play hip hop........music changes i am sure there are people out there that would say that freestyle talks about the same breaking up and losing my girl and the beats all sound the same and glad its dead but one thing to keep in mind you wouldn't think that would be fair to speak about freestyle like that..........then don't do it to the rap heads out there..............like and support what you want to but knocking what is in right now won't change or cause anything good to come out of it.

I wish I could get 1/4 of the requests for Freestyle as I get for RAP/HIP HOP. Its been all Hip Hop for years now and we are due for a change.

Rap is wha?

AHhhaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Get over yourself..

One has nothing to do with the next and I've said it before, and I will say it again...

FREESTYLE AND HIP HOP CAME FROM THE SAME PLACE.. So stop it already.. If anything maybe hiphop can help even the underground freestyle..

Oh forget it... "Ya'll don't hear me...Ya'll just wanna dance!!!!!"

*LOL*

If hip hop were to be ''dead'', then why all the endorsements, commercials for t.v. shows, clothes so on & so forth?? oh & movies....

I PRAY TO GOD RAP/HIP HOP iS DEAD!!!!!!!!! I HATE THOSE GENRES OF OVERPLAYED GHETTO MUSIC!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!IF ITS DEAD, THANK THE LORD!!!!!!!

Rap Dead? Never!

I grew up around lot of rap music, but I hear some people say its negative and etc... Well I personally think thats wrong! Growing up in an urban city, rap music was my guide in avoiding pit falls in the game, and etc... It's my motivation in getting my label running right now. As much as I like rap, My true passion is in Freestyle music, I think if it wasn't for rap, I wouldn't push forward what I'm trying to do. I love Tupac ,Too $hort music just as much as I love Johnny O, Stevie B. What I saying might be off topic, but I read before in some threads how people think rap is some ghetto negative music and etc... Just my opinion

Ty Nobody Said Any One Got To Do With The Other. Rap Is At An End Just Like Any Good Thing When It Get's Too Much Exposure.

Naw , I know what you mean though, It just aint crackin like it use to, the beats are bootsy and the lyrics are hella recycled. Its all the same flow thease days.

I think that to say "rap is dead", is a statement that you'll have to really back up,

something like that can't be said without providing facts and documents. Opinions are

irrelevant to a music that gets the most airplay not in the US, but in the world. I do

agree that you do have you're negatives, but there's always positives. I'm 20 years

old, and compared to 5, I never seen Rap get so big, I have 2 GREAT friends(Kay and Ty) that are

from hip hop backgrounds, that make hip hop music that's beat-rocking, and good to

groove with.

Go buy "Love, Sex, Money", the album touches on various things, and I dont recall hearing about "xstacy popping", "chronic-smoking" or "gun-busting", my whole block loves "Voulez Vous".

Music as a life style .

[please excuse prfootballpapi he is such a team player that sometimes he can't stop trying to sell the product]
ok then lets go...
We sit around in our sheltered freestyle world and wonder why we are falling out of favor with the majority of the music buying public .I on many forums have compared us [freestylers] to hip hop jazz and other musical art forms .I have also given reason to why a lot of these art forms prosper where we don’t .well yesterday I had the privilege of hanging out with Mr. Ty Bless and we spoke about this . Ty and I are fans of every type music possible as our hard drives can attest too ,but we watch the moves of hip hop closely . since it is the dark relative in the freestyle family tree a lot of die hards refuse to see its importance to our parallel universe .
In the past thirty some odd years hip hop has endured because of many factors .now I know many might say who cares why I rather know why new freestyle is not being played on the radio .well I will answer that but please humor me with your attention at least for a little while .
Back in the late eighties we ruled the airwaves of some of this countries major radio stations . The quickly labeled us Latin freestyle or heartthrob or Latin hip hop that label stunted our growth due to the fact that this country no matter what we think views anyone outside the Anglo persuasion a threat to the norm .some of us such as my self and my other partners of tka experienced that with our first single “one way love” z 100 would not play us cuz we were too Latin and 98.7 kiss didn’t cuz we were not black enough .in some cases that happen to many others along the way until we started become excepted by the younger fans that started to mimic the way we dressed and acted because we started to affect the culture .now pause for a moment .notice that in the past ten years since freestyle started to die so did our influence in fashion attitude and culture .ok so what k7 we don’t wear mock necks and capiezios any more .well when we stopped we lost of grasp at who we were and anything new did not matter cuz we became uncool to the majority . Now think of this as hip hop continued everyone dressed like their favorite rapper shinny suits like puffy popping bottles like jay z more bling bling more manolos etc etc. tv does this to us regularly the biggest craze in clothing for women as well a sexual attitude has been “ sex in the city”
Every girl wanted a mr,big or pair of jimmy chu shoes or wanted to be more like Samantha on the d.l.
Guys we need to make a mark on society again cuz we are different than the rest . Turn on your television and notice that hip hop has a grasp on America while we don’t have a grasp on ourselves. what makes us different ? a lot if you ask me its just a matter of letting it shine . Rap ain’t dead but is freestyle dead rap effects wall street does freestyle . How loyal are our followers are we fair weathered were is our market place is it only Fridays and Saturdays at the local night club or do we still have power .how many record labels do we have to push our music and how much are they willing to spend on this art form. how smart are we ? Do we even know our history and how much we matter .
Look at this.
Hip hop clothing ….
Jerseys timberland boots and jeans
Freestyle clothing ..
Mock necks capiezos and those wack double heeled shoes or the Miami vice slippers.
What is still worn today out of all those articles of clothing .
Hip hop radio
24 hours a day two radio stations in nyc 120 radio stations across the country
Freestyle radio
Lunch time mixes 4 hours on the weekends half hour morning segment at 5:30 am in nyc .oldies hours across the country..
