Whats up Francis! I agree on one thing and disagree on another. One more shot and I.O.U. are from 82...not 83 & 84...at least those are the dates on my records. I do agree about the fact that freestyle is not just some latin thing. It may be largely latin, and let's give credit where it is do. However, italians, whites, blacks and others have created mant freestyle songs. On the italian tip (cause I'm italian!! LOL) look at Soave, Lil suzy, Adam Morano, John Rocca, Solid, Denine and Nocera, to name a few. That is why I do not agree with the phrase "Latin-hip hop". It's not hip hop!!! Well, that's my opinion! No offense to anyone!! We are all here to post opinions and learn from each other....like one big freestyle family!!! We can call it what we want but what's important is our unconditional love for the music!
 
I always thought of Bambaataa as the Grandfather of Freestlye. Without him, we wouldn't have had a reason to create this place!
 
Hey Francis...My "I.O.U." is on Streetwise records...it's from 83'..oops!!! My "One more shot" is on Next Plateau and is from 82'.....that one is right though...don't know what I was looking at with I.O.U. (the date)......I stiil say too much credit is being given to Bambataa....There were other factors....Just because Debbie Deb bit off the beat, along with too many newer astists, that does not mean they are so influential...how about Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe-Express" which Bambataa copied from??????!!! For those who may not know that planet rock beat is a speeded up version of a euro track!! How about Disco....they built a major foundation for all club music....there was electro BEFORE Bambataa...and freestyle is NOT funk....I'm sorry everyone..I'm just so sick of this planet rock stuff! there were too many other important influences..which is the very reason why freestyle is so incredibly unique....
