if freestyle comes back it won't be how you expect it and it wll be different than the 80's 90's style .and it will have the influence of hip hop cause there is not a music that has not been influenced by it

Rap & HIPHOP suckS!!!!!!! We need FREESTYLE!!!!!!!!!! Without adding all that ghetto RAP/HIP HOP, People need new sounds!!!!!! Hopefully FREESTYLE never adds that CRAP!!!!!We would be sellouts, That will be the day,FREESTYLE actually dies for me forever.

Frankie, I hate to be the one to break the news to you but Freestyle has been incorporating Hip-Hop into the mix for well over a decade now. Whether it was throwing in a rap verse into the middle of a song or using Hip-Hop breaks and scratching. Take a closer listen to songs such as “GIVE YOUR LOVE TO ME” by TKA, “ONE TRUE LOVE AFFAIR” by Willie Valentin, “TOGETHER FOREVER” by Lisette Melendez and the list can go on and on forever.

Freestyle emerged from the Hip-Hop/Electro scene of the early 1980’s and as “Latin Hip-Hop” it became the voice of Hispanic youth. Whether you want to believe it or not Freestyle and Hip-Hop have a lot in common with one another and can fit together and work, if done correctly. History has already proved that much.

yeah, thats true. I dont mind a LITTLE hip hop flavor to freestyle as long as the rest of the song is 100% freestyle. But If we can do it with out that .........that would be better. Like I said before ,I dont think freestyle is "old" or out of style, well the super old stuff yeah, it is out dated. But The new shit Like Sheryn and Alvendia , Joleen and alot of the other stuff out of the late 90's here in the bay area is 100% raw and just needs exposure! Freestyle is sick! and can do well if we push and publicize it. Yes if we keep playin the Cover Girls and Nice and Wild at the clubs and on the radio, you better beleive were all fuked. But if we start gettin the more recent stuff actually heard by non freestylerz........well be back on track in no time. Enough with this secret society bull shit!! lets represent and be heard!!!

I think that the main thing needed to bring freestyle back again is radio play and a really good album. I've been a freestyle fan since I can remember. The only time that I saw a small comeback starting to build here in Miami was when Rockell dropped with the In a dream single. Then Can't we try. They got a lot of radio play. After that it died again. Power 96 had T.K.A. on when Forever came out but they played some song one time and it sucked. I haven't heard anything else new on the radio since then.

I only wished that they great freestlye singers of yesteryear could get together with some of the big names of today. Im not talkin about Marc Anthony, J-LO or LaIndia which would sound normal but other artists that you wouldnt normally see teamin up with an artist. FAT JOE, BUSTA, and others. Hell, I could just imagine K7 rapping/singing with LL COOL J. or Cynthia with Ludicrous. It could happen!

It has before: Nayobe & Fat Joe...

SUPPORT @ performances, goto to the clubs, sell out the venues people...Especially, of course when "FREESTYLE" is involved. That helps to spark up a flame to fire up the FS genre again.....

I believe that freestyle can create a spark again, if it incorporates some of the mainstream elements into this genre but only to a certain degree.... which brings me to K7 statements " if freestyle made its comeback it wouldn't be how you would expect it." Even GRKGF22 made a great point and I quote her "Yeah, I've actually played them some newschool Freestyle. They admit they like it, but only when there's a good rap hook. grrrr..." Doesn't her statement give us a hint of different styles that can help generate the freestyle engine from the youth? I don't think in any form or matter, It would be selling out! Selling out to me would be singers like Johnny O spilling his heart into country music, or stevie B trying to rap about thug life. If anything hip hop was create from the freestyle genre. So my point in this posting is we should keep freestyle the way it is, but at the same time use bits of new mainstream elements to keep this genre alive. Freestyle to me will always be #1, but at the same thing I have to keep that mentality of doing whatever it takes for this genre to surive.

freestyle dead?

The ONLY thing needed for the freestyle music is QUALITY GOOD songs in the freestyle format. there is a lot of meduim quality freestyle songs out there. the NEW freestyle songs don't need to have lush productions, just a lot of heart like Betina's song Destiny.

new freestyle?

where can I get the song by smash, I think its called Show me the way...

Also what do you guys think about Trinity's song "love letters from space"?

I have it on one of the newer ZYX Freestyle comps. When I get home I can fill you in on what volume it is. Or I think if you can find the web site youlll get track listings from each compilation. No Matter , Youll hear from me later anyways.

we need a seminar so that we could find resolution .[ really] some thing where everyone comes from everywhere and sits and talks this sh!t out

Seminar

I would love for this seminar to become a reality. I wonder how many people would be interest if I do the perliminaries that would identify the cost but a freestyle convention with diferent workshops and seminars is long over due. In fact I am going to start working on it. I hope the support will be there. I guess we will just have to wait and see once I post up the details. I hope to have some info within a week.

i think it would work if people came and talked out about direction for freestyle .then the younger newer artist would be able to ask the vets about what they went and go through to some what kill the diehard mentality .
hip hop does it dance does it jazz does it rock does we don't .
yes we do have this forum but this only gets us but so far we need to do more

Thats real, we need to get orginized and ALL come togeather. theres too much haterism in between our own. were like all down with freestyle music, yet all thease diffrent oppinions and views got people actin like lil beeeoootches. We should unite and fuk the industry up with the best shit ever heard. Every other genre has lil things that freestyle dont, weather its good promotion or support from clear channel. we need that , we need our props back, and for people to reconize we aint a bunch of half ass musicians and singers, but real producers and artists in the fresstyle game!

In order for this to happen, it should be like a summit, In my opinion it should be held in TX,since its half way from both coasts or least I tend to think so. What is stoppin us? I'm down to try and help organize some of this. Can I get an AMEN?
