😀 Until I started working at Metro I never realized the magnatude that this company had on the Freestyle community. I am a New Yorker so I was always familiar with Mic Mac, Cutting, High Power and Fever and being on the road with Suzy when Freestyle was kickin' butt, I got to know a lot of these artist personally and became very good friends with a many of them. But as for the Metro artist, I only knew a few and this is because while the New York labels were taking over NY, NJ and CT. Metro was setting ground in TX, CA and AZ. The New York labels didn't really focus on the out-of-state market because they were killing it right in their own home town. When there's money in the backyard, why go across the street? But when Radio gave up on Freestyle in NY, it was too late Metro tied up the rest of the country and till this day does extremely well throughout the country including, Mexico, PR and Canada. Lil'Suzy went over to Metro at the right moment and that is why she was able to stay consistant with her releases. In case no one realizes, Suzy has released 5 albums and is currently working on her 6th. She's only 22 years old people and has worked very hard to try and please everyone, I know, I've been there! I do give mad props to all the Freestyle artist old and new, most if not all of them know me and they know I am always here to help them in anyway possible. But Lil' Suzy is my over all favorite and I love her to death! Peace La

lil suzy, april & Laissez Faire are my top 3 favorites

Imma use "Metro-Originals", I LOVE Lil Suzy, but at da time she waz a High-Power artist.

1. April
2. Laissez Faire
4. Chereé
5. Deniz - she is MetroPolitan's 1st artist.
By the way, where is Deniz? She should have had an album.

To all who voted for me, I say "Thank You!"

Just a note:

I may have not had many hits like most artist here mentioned or even had the chance to release more than 2 songs under Metropolitan Records but I do feel proud of being part of a label that made a difference no matter how big or small. Just being part of the beginning and watching the label grow to the label they later became is rewarding.

For those who wonder what happened to me, let me say this...I didn't walk away by choice, in fact I wasn't allowed to move further in my career. In July of 1992, my then manager (Al Lee) commits murder (his artist 'Linda aka Mystic' was shot in his car by his gun in a struggle and she was found dead in a vacant lot in Brooklyn). I was at this time locked into a 5 year contract with metropolitan and I couldn't do anything because I was also signed to a production company whom Metropolitan was not releasing any more material with. So it was until 1997 that I began to record again, this time with Pryme Tyme and the rest is history, LOL. But to those that continue to support me and have through out the years, thank you and may god bless you always.

CHEREE, DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN METRO CAME ON THE SCENE? THEY WERE CONSIDERED AN OUTCAST LABEL FOR FREESTYLE OR KNOWN AS THE WHITE BOY LABEL AND MOST LABELS THEN WOULD HAVE THE CLUBS NOT PLAY METRO TRACKS AND TELL THEM IF THEY DID, THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BOOK ACTS FROM THERE LABELS. METRO WAS NOT LIKED IN THE BEGINNING.
BUT, IN THE END METRO WAS THE ONLY ONE LEFT AND ALL OTHER FREESTYLE LABELS ENDED UP USING METRO FOR DISTRIBUTION OF THEIR PRODUCTS.
JERRY AND VINNY TOOK FREESTYLE INTO EVERY CITY AND TOOK IT MAINSTREAM. AND THE ONES WHO DIDN'T EXCEPT THEM AT FIRST WERE ASKING FOR HELP IN THE END..... :sround

THIS IS A DARK SIDE OF FREESTYLE NO ONE TALKS ABOUT ..... :shush
I BEEN AROUND SINCE THE BEGINNING OF FREESTYLE
