let the music play is still gettin played out...but thats ok, cause its one of the songs that opened me up to this beautiful music!!!!

bad of the heart --george lamond........i video was shown on mtv late at night heee back in the day

Lil Suzy vs. Shannon on #1 Song

Now, if I think back to 93, Lil Suzy's Take Me In Your Arms did won a billboard music award, and it got air play for several years after that, and I'm not knockin Shannon but I like Lil Suzy a bit better.

hey i like the george lamond idea on that one!!! i think u are right law2k1, and remember u said it not ME 🙂

yes yes yes

Im not sure if Spring Love was number 1 but "Because I love you, went to number one, or at least thats what said himself, the other night at dna...

hi again

AS far as I know..and anyone here can try and verify this!!
I maybe off a little but im sure it was the following song.

After Shannon's.......we're talking many years apart here!
The highest charting freestyle song was Corina's "Temptation" which i believe went as high as 6 or 7
on billboard. No other has surpass this yet, not even the great lamond.

Peace out.

freestyle lives

Another noticable mention is owed to Dreamboy/dreamgirl
which according to rumors went gold..but for unknown
reasons the label did not bother to have it certified.

How true is this....only those directly involved hold
the truth.

As far as I know "TEMPTATION" by Corina was the biggest Freestyle success, chartwise...

Damn, If I had taken the time to read the other replies, I would have seen that Popstyle already covered this!!!

Did it?

I have their Cd, wow, they look like a heavy metal band, but they sound like MDO, I didn't like the CD, but Sending ALl My Love is a good song. That's the only song that did anything for them

i used to have this giant book of all the songs to ever hit the top 40 - but i lost it🙁 - but it would probably be safe to say that "running" never made the top 40 (i could be wrong) cuz i had never heard of it until i had heard it on the freestyle's greatest beats collection.

oh really? corina's temptation? wow, i wouldve never have guessed that one. corinas my favorite female freestyle artist....word! but one thing though. the songs hardly available on napster or if it is now, it wasnt back then. so it makes me think that the public hardly recognizes that song. another thing is, it couldnt have been because remember lissette melendez was the first to come up with that beat in "together forever". i mean if corinas temptation was the highest charting song then where does lissette melendez "together forever" come in. so i would think that whatever success that temptation made "together forever" would get it also or better yet. remember "together forever" was a real dance hit its also pretty recognizable even in the white states. as far as "take me in your arms" it couldve been a possibility but as time changed people didnt really play the song as much till it actually faded with time. bad of the heart was i think a measure up to shannons but didnt surpass that but eventhough, it did come out a huge success. and popstyle i would have to agree with you on that one. shannons let the music play is still gettin played. i even hear it on many of todays dance compilations and radio stations whether its remixed or original. i didnt know about the grammys or the charts though but if its true then that gives it even more points as freestyles highest song peak. and its funny because it came out at a time when freestyle was fresh and new. and its also produced by my 2 favorite producers barbosa and liggett who also produced my favorite "bad of the heart". so to you two keep letting the music play.

"AS I SAT BY MY WINDOW JUST THINKING OF YOU, THE PAIN AND DECEPTION WHICH BROKE MY IN TWO.
BUT NOW THAT I SEE THAT YOU'RE NOT LOVIN ME, OH BABY CAN'T YOU SEE JUST WHAT YOU DO TO ME..........."

CRYING OVER YOU---------------SOAVE

Since I used to collect Billboard magazine I can be somewhat of an expert on this.
First of all, starting with Linear, they did not reach number 5, in fact they reached number 7 back in '90. George Lamond's "Bad of the heart" bit number 25 back in '90 also. The Cover Girls "Because of You" hit number 27 in '88, Company B.'s "Fascinated" hit number '21 in '87. Stevie B. unfortately, did not make the top 40 with "Spring Love" but did with, not counting Ballads, "I wanna be the one", "In My Eyes", and "Love and Emotion". Sweet Sensation reached number 12 with "Love Child" back in '90. Expose was the highest charting act to have a Freestyle song hit the top 5. In fact, not counting ballads by freestyle artists, two of their songs hit number 5 back in 1987, "Come Go With Me" and "Point of no return". Corina's "Temptation" hit number 6 back in '91 and spent 4 weeks there. Shannon's "Let the music Play" hit number 8 back in '83-'84. Oh, about Information Society, they hit the top 10 with "What's on your Mind (Pure Energy)' back in '88, can't remember what number right now. I am thinking number 3, which would mean that is the highest charting Freestyle single of all time. Then there is "Naughty girls need love" by Samantha Fox which reached number 4 in '88 and The Pet Shop Boys "Domino Dancing" that hit like number 9 in '88 as well. Gee, I think I could go on and on. lol
