ChuckD
The Gay Lord of Freestyle
(ChuckD) Hello Ayna. I'd like to start this interview by letting the fans get to know you on a more personal level. What would you like to let the fans know aboutyou?
(Anya) Thank you for the interview Chuck D & JackG. I want to thank the fans for giving me an opportunity to share a little more with you! I have to say I’ve
been blessed! I have a busy schedule. I have a full time job (Because I
choose to!) LOL After work sometimes I model for different companies whom need print, spokes model etc. I perform on the weekends, go to rehearsal, & host two TV Shows. That’s not all, I also have a family to tend to. I have a lot of respect for all the Artist & everyone that goes out there and work
hard. It’s great when someone acknowledges a hard worker! (Applause)
I would also like to make an exclusive offer to the fans. My videos are
complete. "Do you think" & "Day to Night". All site members and members of
my fan club can purchase a copy of one video and get the other for
FREE! Both videos for just $5.99 (shipping & handling included). I have to
admit it costs money to make videos, but I also would like the fans to
have the opportunity to purchase my products. Send an e-mail to
info@aynamusic.com for more info.
(ChuckD) I believe that performers are led by their heart to the styles of music they choose. Have you always liked dance/club music? What is it about the genre of freestyle that grabbed you and made you record/perform
freestyle music? What can you tell us about the tracks you've recorded, or are in the process of recording?
(Ayna) I love all types of music! Freestyle has been one of my favorite
genres. I continue to record not only Freestyle but from Club/Dance to even a
ballad, why? For versatility, I want the fans to have an option. I’m still recording as we speak (Chuckle). I have recorded 9 songs so far and I will continue to record because that’s what I love to do.
(ChuckD) It is 2003, and we are nearing the 20th anniversary of the birth of freestyle. Who are some of the performers you listened to in the past? Who do you listen to now? As a new artist, what do you want your contribution to freestyle to be?
(Ayna) I listen to all from Judy Torres, George Lamond, Nyasia, Coro, TKA. I
would like to share a funny story with you. (LOL) I was just a little girl and I went to the Puerto Rican Parade to see TKA perform. When the float stopped in front of me I went nuts along with the thousands of fans around me. I chased them down the street and lost my shoe. But I kept running after them until I couldn’t anymore. Today I am involved with the ex-lead vocalist. How funny is that? I hope freestyle continues to be a part of all of us that love this music. I currently listen to Jennifer Paige, Sarah Mcglaclin, Evanescence & all Freestyle.
(ChuckD) I'm sure there are a number of people (performers, writers, producers) who are jaded and negative on the future of freestyle. As a new artist, what are your views on this genre of music? We hear from the
"legends" all the time, and I'm curious as to how a new set of eyes views this scene.
(Ayna) I see it coming back slowly. It never left if in my eyes. I believe it
just simmered down. Yes there is a lot of negativity but that’s in all
types of music. Many Producers, Writers & Artist still believe in this
genre. If all the BS would stop maybe something positive would come out
of this.
(ChuckD) Before we go any further, I'd like to congratulate you
on winning the "Best Female Performer" at the Independent Music Award Show held recently at the Apollo. That must have been a great night for you.
Tell us about the experience of winning the award, and performing at the Apollo.
(Ayna) Thank you! Just being part of the show was an accomplishment & a great experience to even perform at the Legendary Apollo. I was pleased to be
nominated. I was honored when they announced, “Ayna takes the Award for Best Female Performer”. I am also happy to mention that I was the only Freestyle Recording Artist that performed and to add to that I received a standing ovation.
