Hey Johnny, you know I'm just busting your chops about the new freestyle cause I agree that there isn't too much new stuff that's worth playing on the air. But when a good song from an unknown freestyle artist comes out, it would be nice if KTU was a little more supportive of new freestyle and play it. It just seems like they are only interested in playing new stuff from Cynthia, George Lamond and Rockell.

In regards to your statement about KTU playing lesser Known freestyle artists..........KTU can't play songs they don't know about. For instance, the programming department at KTU still probably hasn't heard a song from Synthia Figueroa. Remember, current freestyle is underground. There aren't freestyle labels coming into the music meetings every Thurday afternoon at KTU. ANY label can make an appointment to have their music heard. NOBODY is turned down. The only freestyle label that goes to ktu to present their music is Robbins (Cynthia, Lamonds and Rockell's label).
KTU added Carpice "There goes your heart" 2 years ago. She was an unknown artist. I didn't even know about the song until KTU added it. They just had a succesful, agressive promotion department that made sure the right people at KTU were aware of the song's existance.
Each month, approx 15 songs are added to the playlist. Walk into the music department and there are about 200 songs each month to choose from those 15. Thats ALOT of songs that have ability that never make it. There just isn't room. They aren't gonna go out of their way and say "Hey, the hell with these songs that have MAJOR promise, isn't there a so-so underground freestyle song from a noboldy artist (no disrespect, but a 'nobody' in the music industry) that will cater to just our freestyle fans and that nobody else will like ?"
Not too many stations will gamble like that. Its just not worth the risk unfortunately for us freestyle freaks. But believe me, i know this for a fact....KTU would LOVE to add a slammin, powerful, potential "If i had the chance" freestyle track.

Is it me or did it seem that HOT 97, during freestyle's reign, released alot more that 15 songs a week? i mean, not to offend/defend the station, but there was so much to choose from, from all the music fields (well, not all, but you do get the point) techno, freestyle,trip-hop, house. there was so much of a selection. HOT 97 used to crank out the songs that we went crazy for. they even stopped playing that teen stuff like NEW KIDS and DEBBIE GIBSON when freestyle blew up. there was always new stuff being played, alot more than we hear today.

First off, when did you hear Techno and Trip hop on Hot 103???!?!
And when did they EVER stop playing Debbie Gibson ? She had about 5 hits that they played over, and over, and over again....just like radio stations do with songs today.

I was so pysched today when i heard that ktu was gonna be playing 3 days of freestyle on the mid day at work spot! I figured there must be something on here mentioning it ...i just never saw it till now LOL good luck johnny! looks like this is the year for freestyle huh!
