I am expressing my response towards how other people feel about this issue. REMEMBER, i am a producer, and an artist. I know whats the deal with the file sharing issue. Put your self as if you were a REAL freestyle artist, making money here and there, but then everything stops........

I dont make music for money, i do it for the pleasure.
But when I loose money, thats where something has to be done!!!

I think the online previews are a good thing. Artists can't get away with that I-have-1-or-2-good-songs-but-the-rest-of-the-album-sucks strategy anymore.

However, I still support my favorite artists by buying their cd's in stores. But anyone else, I'll download it REAL quick!
 
i like to read it its a great topic im not saying i dont like to read it....im just saying what i feel thats all.....no arguing here....i hate to argue especially with you...dont want to piss u off and lose ur friendship.....
 
I really dont even understand why this topic should be voted on...it's ethically an illegal practice, people are stealing and distributing works that are published and copywritten without permision of the arist/publisher. It is wrong and is hurting everyone in the bsuiness big or small...even shutting down labels....In the end, we all will lose when no wants to make music anymore.............vote on that!
 
ok..ill be completely honest....i was one who used to say buy the real thing and for years and years everything i bought was the real deal...i wouldnt even buy singles, id go for the whole album...i recently got a cable modem(say earlier in the year)and the truth is iv ebeen dloading ever since, but my reason being is i am a 19 year old kid who doesnt have a steady carreer and just cant afford to waste my money on every cd that i want nemore....if it is a classic album then no doubt ill buy it..but if its a good song and the album is ok ill burn it.... the truth is im against the whole burning of music scene because of the fact that a singer whos dream was to be rich and famous is not being fully completed becuz they r not making money on their album sales.....in that part i am completely against burning....but on the good note ive gotten so much older music that u cant find anywhere on such sites as kazaa or morpheus..i mean classics from the 80's that i love.....just the other day i got some songs form the "real genius" movie(im falling, number one...so it has its pros and cons!!!!IVE GOTTEN A SHITLOAD OF HI-NRG CLASSICS!!!!
 
I have approximately 400 mp3s that I've downloaded, and of all the freestyle downloads I've done, 90% or better, I own the actual product, either on a released compilation, or artist released cd.

I have shared files twice. I sent the same file to two different people, who were both looking for a hard to find song, that I don't think was ever released on cd or a compilation (Noella-Lonely Days). When I do download, I move the mp3 from my shared file to my personal file so it can't be taken.

I enjoy burning my cds for my personal use, but have never sold any cds that I've burned.

On top of that, I've put links on my site that can lead you to where you can buy freestyle, and on the pop-up window for my station, I've listed albums where the songs are located.
 
TRUE CHUCK, I HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM WITH SHARING FOLDERS ALSO,I TRIED IT ONCE,THE SHARED FILE ,SHARED MORE THAN MUSIC..SO IT'S OVER...I MUST BUY...MERK I APPLAUD YOU ,CAUZ ALOT OF THESE DL'ERS DON'T REALIZE THAT THEY ARE CAUSING ARTISTS TO LOSS MONEY AND INDEPENDENT RECORD COMPANIES TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS..IE(STRICTLY RHYTHM)ONE OF THE BEST DANCE LABELS OUT THERE AND CAUZ OF DLING AND SLACKING SALES, THEY HAD TO CLOSE THEIR DOORS. AS LONG AS I KNOW THAT I'M BUYING MY SHYTE AND SUPPORTING MY FREESTYLE ARTIST!!THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS..(IF SONG IS TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND,THEN DL IF NECESSARY)...FREDDIE🙄..JEALOUS OF WHAT!!
 
Wow I feel all that.I am in ohio and working on my demo/album I been working mad hard not only that I probably put more money into it then I would have come back to me.I buy everything I own of freestyle cd's.Even if it turns out to be wack it is the purpose of support not every artist is going to come out with a bangin track.If you claim to want to be a artist artsit dla then you would understand why dj merk is commenting like that.When you spend thousands of dollars trying to support not only your music but distributing lawyers managers studio time and to have someone that claims to wonder why freestyle aint going anywhere ask why????It's all love though I understand everyones views though.Hugzzzzzzzz
 
Personally I buy everything and if I cant find it I ask someone who I know will have it and have them make me a copy. I listen to a lot of different types of music and when ever one of my fav artist comes out with something new I try and buy it. You are hurting the artist by not purchasing the real deal they work hard to give us an album. If I can not find which is usually the case with a lot of my favorite FS I will ask someone here on the board who I know will deff have it. Again a lot of artist visit this site they can always direct us to where we can find there music. 🙂

This is just m.o.

I have over 400 cd's bought and paid for buy me, 95% of them are Freestyle.

I have another 250 cd's bought from dj's who had songs I could find anywhere else.

I have done this to kill two birds with one stone. 1. Get the song I need.. 2. support the dj's.

So if every once in a while I get an mp3 that I didn't pay for. I don't see a problem with it, especially if it's a rare song that I can't get anywhere else.
 
I have a CD collection (freestyle) thats thicker then a 6 doller burger, I aint down with the bootlegs, No Way ....if a freind has something I want, and I cant find it...im getting a copy, but this happens so rerely its almost not worth confessing.

How ever, Break beatz are not sold in stores and are only obtainable VIA Internet, The sceane is still too under ground and the samples they use are all with out legal permission.....KIDS WITH TURN TABLES

Too Bad songs are still being stolen..Its something you have to just deal with and except in the industry thease days. All artists old and new are aware of this ..But THE MUSIC MUST PLAY ON.
