Who is the most OVERRATED Freestyle artist, in your opinion?

I'll begin by answering my own question. All you haters get your fingers ready because I'm about to piss alot of you off!!!

I think the most overrated Freestyle artist out there is: Lil' Suzy.

Here is why...She has not had a good song, make that album since 1995 (LIFE GOES ON) but yet everyone claims that she is the personification of Freestyle. With each new release she makes I always hear claims that it is her best work to date. When I hear it for myself I laugh and say "you've got to be kidding"...

To hype someone up as much as Lil' Suzy - don't you think her material should at least be enjoyable to listen to? I think her career would still be in good shape (music-wise) if she had stayed with Tony Garcia. The collaboration between Tony Garcia & Elvin Molina could have been used to Suzy's advantage and taken her sound in a great new direction. Instead she took another route and got herself caught in a rut...

okay fault of the artist or the producer/production team behind the project? it takes an exceptional person to not be swayed by the people around them. things that make me go hmmmmmm!

i agree 100% with everything u said rhoq...i laugh even harder when people say she's one of the best singers in freestyle.

dengeleyes (WIK-IT RECORDS)

I use to be down with HIGHPOWER records, and i will speak on Lil' Suzy behalf. Do you really think HIGHPOWER cared about her future. YOU SEE, COMMENTS LIKE THIS ONE SHOULD NOT BE POSTED NOT UNLESS YOU NO THE HISTORY WITH HER AND HIGHPOWER. Lil'Suzy might not be the biggest artist to you, but to other's she is a role model on the freestyle community and just for that, i think she deserves all the credit she could get. There is alot of FREESTYLE artist wishing to be in her place right now. "OVER RATED" Think about other freestyle artist that forgot were they started and now they dont even make one freestyle song on their album to thank us, (SHE IS OVER RATED BECAUSE OF US, THE FREESTYLE FAN'S) Love you always Suzy and keep up the good job."DENGEL"

I think she is a Roll Model to many people and
thats why she is rated so highly.

If someone dosent like her music - fine
they dont have to listen.

Facts are she is a trooper.
She is looked up to by many.
Many people lover her music.

lil suzy is an icon..she is one of the most RECOGNIZED and played freestyle artists today, whether u like her music or not..don't take awya from what she has accomplished.....take me in your arms" is a great song and always will be......that one song alone makes her greater than many, no i am not a fan of all her songs...but she has made her mark in freestyle...plain and simple......

I love Lil Suzy. Her music is still great and she does not present a false image about it. If anyone is to blame, it would be the song writers!

Personally I've only heard a few songs from her other than "take me in your arms", but i have alot of respect for the girl becuase after all these years , she is still making music and still trying to rise. It seems she always has something out, So give the girl some credit she still out there after all these years........

speaking as a fan....i think she has talent and is very talented....

now...there are some problems with some of her albums..i have most of them and i heard all of them...but the bottom line is that she worked to be where she is at and as a ROLE MODEL.....she has a done a pretty god job by not alienating her fans.....

im sure that there are other artists out there who are prolly more over rated than she is....but the thought hasnt actually crossed my mind.....wen i think of someone....ill post....

i will go and say lil suzy is thought up right where she should be, maybe even underated. "take me in your arms" is one of the top 3 freestyle songs ever released. "promise me", another great song. i guess because her new album was too progressive for rhoq and the pfc is why you don't like her after 1995. "can't get you out of my mind", "you're the only one" are two great songs that got radio airplay. she has not had an album that was a dud to date. i have not heard her latest songs so i can't comment on that. but she is in no way overrated, possibly among the top 3 female freestyle artists ever.

I am a big fan of Lil' Suzy, cuz she is a Freestyle artist that I can say is from my generation. The teenage/young adult fans of the 80's had people like Judy, TKA, Nayobe, where as the teenage/young adult fans of the 90's had George Lamond, Coro, Voyce, and Suzy....however cafreestyler, I have to disagree with you counting her among the top 3 female freestyle artists EVER, for the simple reason that she came in at the tail end of the freestyle downward spiral in 92....lucky for her, that song was a mega-hit, and it made a name for her....when I went to a freestyle concert that KTU had at the seaport back in 96, she was billed as a "legend of freestyle", which didn't sit too well with me because at the time, she wasn't around long enough....now, I do like her songs, but I wouldn't place her even among the top ten because there are many female artists whose songs made a heck of a lot bigger impact than "Take Me In Your Arms".

Hmmmmmmm, I disagree.. I think Lil Suzy does have talent (although all of her songs do sound alike)..

There are plenty of 2 hit wonders that really need to come off that hyped pedestal and either make way for the new or get new material..

Underrated - TRILOGY without a doubt..

hhmmm, now we've gone from one hit wonders to 2 hit wonders..interesting....lolol glad to say I don't sit on a pedestal never have never will as alot of you know.

Give way to new artist, the door is open let them make their own noise, as some are doing. I am all for supporting the "New School"

Overrated I don't know, but underrated definitely Clear Touch, besides TKA easily the best guy group in my opinion.

Yep - one/two hit wonders i.e. Alisha, Linear, Trinere (although some may say Trinere had more, but still, I feel too much hype)..

Lime was great, but some debate whether it is truly FS, but the were hyped too much..

Perhaps I was misunderstood by Dengel...If you read my post carefully I said that if Suzy stayed with High Power I think it would have been better for her MUSICALLY. I purposely avoided the entire "what's best for her future" stuff because I have heard the stories of how TG is only out for himself and doesn't care about any of his artists. What I was trying to say is this...When he and Elvin Molina teamed up (just after Suzy left) they threw together some of their best work...Too bad Suzy didn't stick around long enough to be a part of that. As far as what was best for career that can be debated in another thread if someone chooses to create one...

Now onto the underrated artists...

1. CLEAR TOUCH
2. NAIF
